Amery Wisconsin's Nature of Amery with event's all day around town.
Please come and join us for the Annual Nature of Amery event. A full day of activities are planned for your enjoyment.
Start your day off with bird watching by pontoon. Departures leave from York Park 8-11:00am N45 19.398 W92 21.694
Then have a nice stroll around the art fair. The fair is located at North Park. The coordinates listed for this cache event will take you there. North Park is also HQ for this caching event. The art fair goes from 10am to 4pm. There is plenty so see and I am told there will be food stands and the works.
Then join us for a Geocaching Event. The first of its kind for Amery. Please look below for more information on the geocaching event.
Finish out your day with a fish dinner at Centennial Hall (senior citizens center) located at N45 18.229 W92 22.050. The dinner runs from 4 to 7pm.
Ok....onto the Geocaching..... HQ for this event is at North Park in Amery WI. Muskytooth and gouldjs will be at a table very near the coordinates listed above. I am told we will have a Nature of Amery banner but since we are unsure of the exact, pinpoint, location of our booth, your best bet is to look for the GPS hanging around our necks.
The Nature of Amery Geocaching Event will last from 10:00am to 2:00pm on Saturday the 14th of June. Please sign in and pick up your page with all of the geocaching coordinates on it. There will be 10 caches located all around the city of Amery. 5 caches will make up a poker run. Each of the the five caches will contain a complete deck of cards. You are allowed one card per cache for each GPS in your hunting party. Your final hand should be made up of five cards each with a different picture or color on the back.
The other five caches will contain the familiar geocaching prizes.
Each of the ten caches will have a number within the container. This number needs to be written down on your paper as proof of your visit to the cache. (Check back the night before the event as we may post the coordinates of the 10 caches so you can get a jump on the day)
There will be two brand new GPS units given away as grand prizes for the event. The first GPS unit will be given to the person with the best poker hand. The second GPS will be given away with a drawing. To enter you have to have found all 10 caches. Again, we will use the numbers found inside the cache as proof of your find. One entry for each person in your party. If you are not present at the end of the day the GPS will be mailed to you. The prizes will be given away shortly after 2:00pm.
This is the first Caching event for Amery and the first event put on by gouldjs and Muskytooth. We are unsure of the numbers of caches that turn out for an event like this but we hope to be prepared enough to handle what all of you could potentially throw at us. We hope to have a flawless first attempt......boy do we hope. We both are aware that something always comes up. Any input with ideas for improvements will be welcome.
Please bring your family and enjoy what Amery has to offer, see some birds, look at some art, find some cache......maybe even win a GPS.
We are looking forward to seeing you there.
FYI the best poker hand will be decided using the following scale.
POKER HANDS HIGH TO LOW
Five of a Kind: All five cards of the same index (Ex: J, J, J, J, J). There are no wild cards but since we are using more than one complete deck, five of a kind is possible.

Straight Flush: Any five card sequence in the same suit. (Ex: 7, 8, 9, 10, J and A, 2, 3, 4, 5 of same suit).
Four of a Kind: All four cards of the same index (Ex: J, J, J, J).
Full House: Three of a kind combined with a pair (Ex: K, K, K, 10, 10).
