on the map of wi there is a dot for each cache can the dot be removed from the map after that team finds that cache

can the major roads be put on the map to make it more easy to find an area on the map

I assume you are refering to the maps on geocaching.com. I don't think they can be modified.

What I use is Mapsource, which is a Garmin program and unfortunately isn't cheap. But I have it and load my waypoints on that and see all the roads and such.

What IS free, donations accepted, is USAphotomaps which is really a fantastic aid for planning. You can load your waypoints from your GPS into the program and it will overlay satellite photos and topographical maps so you can see the lay of the land, rivers and roads.

I think others use some mapping programs available for less money. I don't used them but others will likely add their preferences. Good luck and have fun!

HERES a little taste of what USAPhotoMaps can do.

I don't recommend it so much for dial-up connections unless you don't mind downloading your areas of interest for hours on end. I have about 1/2 of WI downloaded into my PC. As my caching keeps expanding out further, I just keep downloading more area. Then again, you can have my cable modem when you pry it out of my cold, dead hands. Image

Oh, and if you want to continue this discussion, you should probably start a new thread in the "help" or "general" forum. This forum is for suggestions to the WGA.

this was thought to be a suggestion of taking the dot off the map after you log in that way a person dosnt have to roll the mouse over each dot to see that they have already done that cache

This may be a great idea, but the map is not part of the WI Geocaching Association (WGA) website. It is merely a link to Ed Hall's Website at Buxley's Geocaching Waypoint.

Other than the sport of geocaching being the primary topic, the websites are not inter-related. In fact, Jeremy Irish, who owns and operates geocaching.com had a disagreement with Buxley some time ago, and thus you will find no links to Buxley's website on the Geocaching.com website at all.

There are many ways to track your finds and hides & produce maps of areas you are planning to cache in. This website, and meeting people at event caches, are a great way to learn more that one might imagine.
