On occasion, my Z22 Palm Pilot will go blank and completely shut down.
Nothing shows up on the palm pilot and then I either: 1) go home or 2) hunt "blind." Could my cell phone be affecting it? It only happens to me and not to Professor. It can happen at ground zero after setting the palm on the ground while signing the logsheet, while the palm is sitting on my dash, or if I just happen to pull the palm pilot out of my pocket. I have no idea what I'm doing to cause this. It happened again today while geocaching in Kiel. I did buy a second palm pilot on ebay as a back-up and was glad to have it since the first one went blank mid morning. Thanks for all your help. Tami
PS I'm hoping there's some easy logical explanation. Kind of like when you cell phone deactiviates your key-card for your hotel room? |

It could be a conflict in the programs. I would suggest deleting any programs you may not need (like Advant I think).
Another suggestion is to make sure you manually turn it off and not let it "power off" by itself with the timeout feature, that could be giving it a memory fault. |

It's just your dynamic personality - the palm has finally crashed over being so close to you!
1. Battery charge is gone. Make sure you have it fully charged.
2. Internal memory battery is going - needs to be replaced. |

It happened again while up in Minneapolis...it's an internal rechargeable battery that can't be taken out?
Anybody else have this trouble? After it dies, we push the reset button and it turns back on but then we lose all the cache page/plucker info. The only thing that stays is what's in our memos. Thanks to everyone who has responded so far. Tami |

Although we've never replaced the battery in ours, can't you take it to a place like Batteries Plus and they put it in for you? |

I ordered a replacement battery online for about $30. Can not remember who had done it before me, and told me where.
Justin replaced the battery for me - very tricky.
I would not think batteries plus would carry what's needed, but ....... |

Batteries Plus did not list one for the Palm Z22, but we did find one here:
http://www.batterymart.com/p-palm-z22-battery.html
Of course, the installation might be another story. |

Out of curiousity, we made a call to the Batteries Plus in Kenosha. They don't stock that particular battery, but could special order it for $34.95. The guy also said he "probably" could install it if the unit has a back attached by screws and that it requires soldering to the circuit board. |

Replacing the Battery is not a big deal. Little involved, but not too bad. if you want to pick up the Battery Tami, Next time we meet up, I can do the swap. Won't take more than a few minutes, if I know you are going to be somewhere, I will bring along the Tools. |

Thanks everyone! You all are so smart
So, it appears to be the built in battery.
Thanks Justin for the offer, I'll run it past Wade.

No problem. The Batteries are pretty inexpensive. I wouldn't think more than about 20 bucks. |

Ahem!
I said thanks to everyone!
And I was signalling out Justin because he volunteered to replace the battery for me if I chose to buy a replacement battery.
