the fresh snowfall has likely covered much of the track to these caches again. there may still be some evidence of the passage though.
the challenge factor has now risen again. |

Yeah, we thought about this, but heck, we're up for a challenge. Hopefully tomorrow! How are the roads up that way now? |

Roads are pretty good from what I have seen of them. |

I just hope someone gives us a report on the quicksand, or we'll need to plan our own trip out there to see what it looks like in winter, and I don't really want to do that! |

I met up with TBC and T&B after they came out from #2 and the bubbling sand. They should be able to describe what they saw. I don't know if they have pictures or not. |

No pictures and there really wasn't too much to see. When we were heading back to the cars, we noticed where the snow sort of caved in on itself right next to our tracks. I pushed my hiking stick in and it didn't hit a solid bottom. When I pulled it out it the bottom 18 inches was covered in wet sand.
I think this might be worth a trip back during warmer weather. I've never seen real quicksand before. |

Just got through reading all the logs from the Wild Side today. Glad for a couple of storytellers (one a professional) who like to share the details of an adventure. Having done all of these caches, we relived the fun through the tales of TBC and T&B, and we were glad to see that they experienced some of the same challenges (like the search at #4? ). But we can't believe you got off so easy at #6! You need to return to that one in the fall, and Labrat needs to put that ammo can back where it was!
Glad the weather cooperated this weekend, and thanks for sharing your walk on the wild side. And thanks to Labrat for creating the cache series. |

We made a point of visiting "Walk on the Wild Side #2" (GC129ZT) while caching in the Wild Rose area yesterday. While we didn't get to see the bubbling sand during the winter, it was roiling quite nicely on this warm mid-March day. The spot is only about 18 inches across, but who knows how deep it goes?
