We still plan on being there.
Our local weather guy did a report on Lake Superior freezing and it is rare for it to freeze comepletely over. When it does get froze over it is not like a small lake that can be traveled across, the ice is in sheets and never one big solid piece. That is why it is such a snow making machine as it keeps the air "warm" above it. The West shore usually gets some ice build up.
This year is the first time in 14 years that Lake Erie froze over.

While I would love to go and had been planning on this, I will now have to skip this trip. My partner will be out of town for a conference so I can't leave Burnett County. |

I'm still a go for this trip. I think I saw the plan was to start from the parking area at noon, so I will be there by then. (Unless I see otherwise)
Will probably stop at a few caches on the way up just to break up the long drive. Hopefully TBC still able to make it, and would have room for a couple more. |

The plan is 11:30-12:00 hot chili lunch at the parking lot. Mrs. OPS has everything ready to go and will be cooking stuff up Thursday night. Not liking the forecast right now but hopefully that will change as we get closer. |

Have fun this weekend guys. Really wish I could have come along, even just to hang around in town. |

Is there anything we can bring to help out? |

Unfortunately I am going to have to back out of this one. The weather is cooperating to well for me this week. With the warm days and cold nights, the maple trees are ready to go.
Have fun and I really wish I could be there. |

The weather forecast has changed for the better. No more rain or snow- just cloudy. Cloudy is fine with me. I don't think we need any help on the lunch. Looks like we've got some folks who aren't going to make it so there should be plenty of chili to go around for the ones that are there. |

We will be there. Not sure if I (Mrs.) will be able to do the hike. Will explain when there.. looking like Mr TE should be able to long as someone stays at his speed.... Still looking forward to a fun, relaxing time. See ya soon.

Mr. TE can keep pace with us, after all its not a race. Besides I have been having a leg issue that may slow me down. Besides then we can get more stories about his evil older brother (kidding on the evil part) |

Weather report looks quite good now. Seagull has wireless and we'll be bringing laptops. Already packing and though I've been up since 4:30AM left Mathman's new series for somebody else to FTF. Good luck.
As for going slow enough for Mr. TE. No problem.
What's up with the PQ's not coming when you really need them? Dang. |

Have a good time, everyone. Although we cannot attend, I was wondering if someone would like to try and Rescue that cache near Superior for Cache Rescue? Not sure of the snow cover there, but it has been on the list for quite awhile. Just thought I would "nudge" the idea out! |

Checked it out but that's pretty far out of our way considering it's probably under feet of lake effect snow still. But, we'll keep it in mind. I've finally loaded a PQ of the area from September when we were there because my PQ's are not arriving. Dang, drat, curses... |
