A number of WGA members will be manning a geocaching booth at the Washington County Home, Garden, and Leisure (HGL) show taking place on the weekend of March 12 - 14 at the Washington County Fair Park. While we have quite a few people already committed to helping out (mostly WB Cache Ba$h organizing committee members), we could use a little more assistance.

There will be no classes or practice geocaches for people to find at this event. All you have to do is talk about the thing you love (geocaching) with visitors to the show and answer any questions they may have. We will have brochures, signs, and "props" to help you out.

Individuals can sign up to cover one or more of the following shifts:

Friday, March 12
5:00pm - 8:00pm

Saturday, March 13
10:00am - 12:00pm
12:00pm - 2:00pm
2:00pm - 5:00pm

Sunday, March 14
10:00am - 12:00pm
12:00pm - 2:00pm
2:00pm - 4:00pm

Contact me (Jeremy) if you have any questions or would like to help out.

Bump.

Thanks to the two people who volunteered to possibly help us with the HGS show next weekend. However, it appears we are not going to have anyone to work part of the Friday evening shift... so it would nice if someone was available to help on Friday from 4pm (arrive a bit early to help set up) to 6 or 7pm.

Also, we could use more help Saturday if others are interested.

Almost 150 people stopped by the geocaching booth at the HGL show this weekend for a quick introduction to the sport. Visitors were instructed as to the basic concepts of geocaching, the equipment needed, how to find caches in their area on geocaching.com, shown typical cache containers and their contents, and (later in the show) given a Groundspeak "Guide to Geocaching" brochure. Thanks to a neighboring booth (Lammscapes) we were even able to hide a practice micro cache in a small pine tree for folks to find. Smile

Total show attendance was close to three thousand, and hopefully those that didn't stop and chat with us at least read our display boards while walking by so they are now more aware of what geocaching is.

We'd like to thank the following geocachers for helping man the booth during the show:

- lone_gunman (Will)
- Averith (Karen & Rob)
- kmhiker (Cary & Maryann)
- ecorangers (Tami)
- Kate Peterman (West Bend Parks & Rec.)
- nohandsgps (Kevin)
- MikMac4 (Nancy)
- jvechinski (Jeremy)
