Just an idea here, but looking to see if there would be others interested in doing the caches along the Woodville trail. I am not sure but I believe there is about 45 caches and I believe it spans 9 miles.

For those not familiar Woodville is off of 94 about 30 minute drive from the Wisconsin-Minnesota border.

We are looking at say meeting at 9:00 and take off to the trail shortly after. If there is a decent response I will work out the details then. The only item that were cant really move about is the date and time (I am trying to sneak a caching run in on the way to the in-laws for Easter)

Other than that we would like to have at least one person park on each end of the trail so we can transport people back, instead of riding back.

Would like this to be a nice leisurely ride so dont worry about the pace, trust me my pace on a bike isnt the best

I will fly this one by all the wingwalkers. Sounds like an excuse to make a stop at the Mall of America

It's a great trail...even in the dark (and rain). There is at least one puzzle on trail that you should look at before you set out GC1B59V .

If I decide to stay on campus and not go home I would be willing to attend. But I'd need a ride over there.

I was just looking at doing that one last night. I am just not sure how I am going to get the bike across the state in the car.

Missed the Good Friday date, proablly would not be able to do it that day.

My son and I biked a short part of the trail on Saturday (doing a spring maintenance ride on a handful of caches we have on the trail), and it was in pretty good shape. A couple of soft spots, but not bad at all. Unless we get alot of rain, it should be in fine shape come early April.

As LB7 mentions, check the one mystery cache before ya go. Honestly, it's very easy! Smile

A question here: Is this a multi use trail? Does it allow horses?
If so, wondering how the bike trail holds up with the horse (hoof) traffic? We have biked some trails with shared use and the divots cause by the horse shoes were terrible!

Thanks for the reports. We have this one in our sights for a summer/fall geo-bike adventure. We enjoyed the Gander Dancer Trail last summer.

This trail is on my list to get to sometime. Unfortunately I can't be there that day. If any others are interested in setting up a different day, please contact me.

I don't recall seeing any horses out on the trail. We've traveled it a number of times and I don't recall any horse divots here. I noted they were starting to grade the trail in some spots and usually do a nice job of keeping trees/branches removed after a storm.

This is the info I pulled from the St. Croix County website:

-------
The Wildwood Trail is a seven-mile off-road hiking, biking and snowmobiling trail on a former railroad right-of-way, which runs from the Village of Woodville south to the St. Croix/Pierce County line, through the Town of Eau Galle. St. Croix County purchase the railroad grade from the St. Paul, Minneapolis and Omaha Railway Company in 1970.

In addition to winter snowmobiling, there is consistent, regular usage by joggers, bicyclists and hikers during the spring, summer and fall. All motorized vehicle traffic, except snowmobiles, is prohibited on the trail.

------

You can also see more and view a map at:
http://www.co.saint-croix.wi.us/Departments/CountyPark/wildwood.htm

Just an aside: One group of cachers (Hike and Seek) that has hidden a bunch of the caches out here is no longer active in geocaching. While we try and maintain them as best we can when we're out there, some might be in need of a little TLC. If so, just post a maintenance log and either myself or someone can take a look at it. (Or, if it needs to be archived, we'll get something else ot there.)

Thanks much for the info. Laughing We just wanted to check. Much appreciated.
Sounds like a fine trail and we will take a weekend to visit this summer.
Yeah! Very Happy

If someone can give me and and the geobike a ride to the trail I can come along. I've decided to stay up and Stout for Easter and not go home.

I'm still on for Friday but will now be riding from UW Stout. I plan on getting to the trail in Woodville around 9 and and caching my way south and then heading home from the south end so if anyone wants to join me give me a shout.
