I thought awhile back I read here how an EC was not going to be allowed to be placed here. My wife and I were going stop Saturday about noon. We pulled up and counted 15 cars in the lot and parked along the road. I think the secret is out. We decided not to stop.

I'm confusitated...there isn't one there (according to GC.com.) Why were there so many cars?

If I recall correctly, I thought DNR was worried about cacher traffic here. I'm just pointing out that a few cachers probably would do no extra harm in relation to the amount of people that use this area already.

At one time, there was a physical cache there, but that is long gone. It is a great ravine and great place to visit. See GC79EB.

Looking at the sattelite maps and map of the SNA, it may be possible to still place a cache here even with the SNA if you got a precise location for the SNA border, as the SNA border looks to be fairly close to where the cache was at. One could probably place a cache about 300 feet upstream of the old cache, and be outside the borders of the SNA.

I tried to place an EarthCache here, and it's the only time Thomas Meyer has ever turned me down. At that time, there was discussion about possibly closing the area to public visits altogether. The location has been popular among the locals, as noted. A couple years ago, someone cliff diving died there. Mr, Meyer agreed, as HOT TROT says, that a few geocachers are not a problem, but it's the bigger issue regarding access in general. That was a couple years ago, I wonder if it would be worth asking again.

It's a gorgeous location, still worth visiting whether a cache is there or not. I've been trying to plan visits in each season. So far I've done winter and fall.
