some of you may not like this suggestion but what about a live chat area with a friends list so we can see when our friends are on here and pm them and im them?

there is a spot on the bottom of the Forum Index that states:

the chat idea has been talked about in the past by the web committee, and there are a lot of pros and cons.

Right now, the thrust of the work of the web committee has to be getting our 2 new webmasters up to speed and get caught up on many issues that have been on the back burner for too long in updating the web site. That may take several months, and then it would be very reasonable to pirusue your idea a bit further.

Thanks for your suggestion. All suggestions are appreciated. I just wanted to be honest and let you know that our new webmasters have a pretty heavy load right now, so some good ideas will take time to get implemented. But be patient. If you still think it is a good idea in 4 months, go ahead and suggest it then.

I'm not sure where it is, but I know I've seen posts about a weekly pre-scheduled IM chat session. With all the commerically available IM / Chat programs already available, I think there might be other solutions and things we could talk about going forward.

My initial thought is adding "alternate ID's" to a users profile and they could choose which ones to share publicly. Possibly ID's for the major online chat / IM sources, Facebook, etc. Just thinking as I type and tossing out an idea that may accomplish the same thing.

The weekly chat was done waaaay back on yahoo, like 06 but it fizzled out after a while.

However, there isn't anything that says you can't do one on your own, post in a forum (not sure which one(s) would be the appropriate) that you'll be on yahoo im at 930 cst on xyz day at 123 time with user name x1y2z3
