Well, though I'm in no position to give any advise on what Android app to use for finding caches, I can tell you that I have had no issues using Geohunter on my HTC Android. I also tried Geobeagle but found the "canine" theme more irritating that useful.
I'm not an avid hunter and don't do many of the field functions that others might from the phone, but the compass, map and data functions are flawless. Great little app and I don't think I paid a thing for it.
Groundspeak is going to loose out if they continue to charge a premium for their app. Drop it down to $1.99 or $2.99 and you'll get some support from people who download only free apps or apps for a $1. Keeping it at $9.99 is a death sentence in the app market. |

We are ditching the landline! This is my first real cell phone...and I went full out on it with all the bells and whistles. I'm excited to join the current century (though that does cramp my hermit style a bit). I will give those Apps a look see as well...thanks guys.
...and I agree, I wouldn't buy a $10 App, they need to drop that to at least half the price. |

I found my first cache with it today....there is a bit of a learning curve but it worked just fine...nice for when I'm somewhere sans loaded GPS. |

So the question is since c:geo is so popular, because it's so good, why does groundspeak pretend it doesn't exist? Why not go after it like the recording industry targeted the original napster? Or, lock down your infrastructure so the app doesn't work? Or, better yet, why not make your app so attractive that people will choose it over the other?
I suspect they can't go after the app because it's the use of it that violates the terms of service and not the app itself. I.e., groundspeak has no contact with cgeo, just with geocachers. |

I have to sign into GC to use it so it's using the information I use as a paying member. I wonder if they can control the way I look at my information? |

Just read that folks making mention of C:Geo on the GC boards are getting vacations from the site. So I would keep any use of the program quiet... |

I guess groundspeaks app that costs 9.99, has had seven updates in six months, has been downloaded between 10,000 and 50,000 times and doesn't work all that great can't stand the competition of c;geo that is free, works better and gets all most daily updates and has had over 250,000 downloads.
Groundspeak needs to make a reasonably priced app that works instead of trying to be a dictator and tell everyone what they can and can't use.
They need to keep in mind who is spending their money and time at their website and even though they pretty much have a monopoly on caching right now things can and will change fast when people get upset and other options come available.
Just look at myspace that is just about broke and not used much now because they thought they were the place to be and also tried to dictate what everyone could do and then along came facebook with a better site. |

I have the GC app on my HTC Desire and I think it works great. The $10 I spent was worth it.
Thanks |

Interesting. I have not been following this at all on gc.com, so as a new Android user am a bit surprized.
I downloaded C:Geo and have used it several times on my Android, and it is amazingly easy to use, and much more accurate than what I have seen on the I-phone. Really a great app.
I wonder if those who use C:geo know of a way to filter out the caches already found? Really, the only thing I do not like about it is that all the already found caches show up.

From the main menu you should be able to select "exclude own and found caches" |
