Sometimes these things are easier said than done. I appreciate any effort to pull these types of events together and appreciate more the commitment of LCG players who inevitably end up driving through a blizzard to get to the destination.
I certainly hope that there is enough interest in this event to entice other players to step. There are plenty of places and organizations who would welcome the opportunity to host a gathering of this size and not be as off-putting at the place where this one was being staged. |

I myself have run into the same problems at a local resturant. I was trying to set up a meet and greet for the end of this month. The first resturant said they would not be interisted in a group of 40 or so people for a 3 hour block. The other resturant said they would be happy to host it but would limit the choice of menu items to 3 or 4 choices.
Wow how things have changed. I remember when I worked at Marcs Big Boy resturant and a full greyhound bus's would pull up. And the full menu would be available. Now try to find either a Marcs Big Boy or a full greyhound for that matter.
I sure hope something can be put together as this game goes on all year, there should be a celebration at the years end. |

Someone else have an interest and inclination to take this over? Looking forward to making the event when it happens.
After all the events we've had, there should be contacts or people with the gift of schmoozing to get a place.
Ed- thanks for trying your best to get this done. |

There's no reason this has to happen in a restaurant either. There are lots of other options like VFW posts or Nature Centers or Libraries and the like. I know food is usually integral to these things, but even that can be handled pot-luck style.
I would have stepped up already, but I would want to host if close to home and I've already done that. I would much rather see someone from some other region of Wisconsin take the reins.
What about asking the UW-Stevens Point geocachers to host it in Point at the University. For that matter, any club in the state at a University. Lots a rooms, minimal fees and access to food courts if you schedule it right. Problem solved. This one I would help coordinate if I could get a "Point" person to host.
Seems like the possibilities for place are endless and that we should automatically limit ourselves to restaurants for these things. |

It WOULD be that weekend. Availability of the venue wil decide on Saturday or Sunday...or neither.
Rest assured, rcflyer, that I hear you! It's just hard scheduling around 1 cacher, unless they are the Event Host! |

OK, it looks like Feb. 12th from 1-4 PM. Sorry, rcflyer, but that's the availability of the venue. The Horicon Marsh International Education Center is the location, about equidistance between the Fox Valley/Madison/Milwaukee. Still some details to iron out over the next few days, but sagasu and I will be coordinating with the WGA.
This is a fairly new Nature Center, with snow shoes available for a donation. They have about 40 pairs, so if you ever wanted to try some snow shoes, here's your chance. They have a nice viewing area of the Horicon Marsh, which is the largest cattail marsh in the world, at 32,000 acres (no Wet Maze, this is a protected area!).
They also have some head mounts of poached white-tailed deer, with the story behind each violation. The highlight is a stuffed Passenger Pigeon from 1911.
We will meet in the auditorium. There are indoor restrooms available.
They were having water problems this week which hopefully will be resolved in 3 weeks. That is the only drawback at this time.
Coordinates are N43.28.487 W88.36.073. Watch for the Event to publish soon!
Ledge Park is nearby, with several caches hidden there. Also Horicon/Mayville are the closest cities to seek some hides.
Let's see what happens! |

Oops! Did a straight cut-and-paste from J&L's post, which uses periods instead of degree symbols. Took those out after the degrees, and the mapper put me right on top of the building. Thanks, Pete! |
