2011 Wisconsin Geocoin

It was almost 1 year ago that the idea of a 2010 Wisconsin Geocoin was presented. Time for another poll!

If you vote YES and would like to post an idea on a design, please feel free to do so.

Comments on a NO vote are also welcome.

Looks like 87% want a coin for 2011.

Time for the new BOD to put it into action!

Another contest? I'm up for previewing some creative ideas from the membership. Very Happy

Has the BOD decided on persuing a 2011 Wisconsin geocoin?

Whereas the process used for the 2010 geocoin of having a similar design contest by the members was effective and yielded great designs, we will use a similar process for design in 2011 and announce a design competition as soon as possible after the board meeting.

Whereas the process of using an ad hoc committee of interested board members and non-board members to oversee the development of a geocoin was effective last year, the existing ad hoc committee will be revitalized with new members interested in working on the project this year, and tasked to oversee the development of the 2011 WGA geocoin.

Be it resolved that the ad hoc geocoin committee will announce as soon as possible the 2011 geocoin design contest lasting 2 weeks for entries, after a membership vote, the ad hoc committee will work with the BOD to produce the 2011 geocoin.

Motion was made by Ralph, 2nd by Dave, All 9 board members voted in favor of the motion.

I'm as impatient as the next guy awaiting the new coin, and the WGA and the geocoin committee have done everything we can do to progress the coin. It's now just a waiting game with the vendor. Updates will be made as soon as we have any more information to share. Smile

I wish that there was more to tell, but there isn't at this time.

Any preliminary drawings / renderings / etc. that can be shared yet? I know it will take time for the production, but I know a number of members are curious about the "looks".
