So are there any free maps for the 62st?
My old maps and programs won't work with it. It does come with the Topo and it's ok. But I'm thinking I'm still going to have to buy the NAvigator map for it.. |

They work on my 550 and are routeable not sure about yours but worth a try as they are free, When I downloaded them, I do so by state to keep the files smaller, so far on a 4G Card I have most of the Midwest and a few others with plenty of space left.

Thanks for the offer buy mu unit came with the topo. I'm not sure if anyome noticed but Garmin now has a 1 map= 1 GPS policy. Meaning if you went out and bought 2 brand spankin' new units, and you want City Navigator on them, you have to bu TWO programs. I did download the free one, but I still opted to buy the NEw CN. BTW the Bird's Eye program is pretty cool too, but not sure if I will but a subscription for it again |

How do you load these on the Oregon? I put them on an sd card but when I tried to use it I get an error message that says there are not routable roads in this area. Any idea what I am doing wrong? |

If you read about the Topo 24K it states that it is road routable and you can use it on as many units as you like.
Thanks |

Nope, not no more, IF you are talking about the Garmin Topo 24k.
Garmin's new Map Policy. 1 map per one Unit. (Maybe with older units and maps thou) My unit came with the Topo program and it was not routable |

I have used these maps on 3 other units and it has always worked. You have Topo 2008 I think and it is not routable. The 24K are. I have an email into Garmin to see if the new 24K is for one unit. I am telling you this will work and it will cost you nothing to try it. I no longer use Garmins, I am a Delorme person now. I do have 2 Nuvi 500's that I love and a forerunner 305.
Thanks |

You may be right. Ya "Use to could." Garmin recently changed their policies because of "Pirating copies and such." My new Garmin 62st came preloaded with a TOPO U.S. 100K Card, (Hense the "T")
I bought the new City Navigator program. Somewhere, while getting everything downloaded, a screen poped up stating 1 map, 1 device, non-transferable. I'm pretty sure you had to register you map program and it registerd to the GPS unit it is installed on. If you were yo take the SD card and put it in a different unit, I'm willing to bet it's not going to work.
Before I bought the unit, I had seen some product reviews and the only negitive thing was the the new 1 map, one unit policy. Event if you were to give the whole unit to someone different, they could not log in and get any new updates and downloads under their Garmin Account.
Again, thank you for your offer, but both my units are taken care of. |

Thanks |

Since you do not think I am right, here is what Garmin states.
Dear Randy Yindra,
The TOPO U.S. 24K Northeast mapping is not a locked product and can be used with multiple devices. Please let us know if you have any further questions.
With Best Regards,

Now if you look it up you will see that the 24K Topo is road routable. The Topo that comes with the T models is not. It is also more detailed than the 100K. |
