This sticky forum topic is provided for WGA members to share their recommendations regarding good places to eat in this region.
When you make a recommendation, please provide as much information as you can. At a minimum we need the name of the restaurant, type of food served, and the city/town where it is located. We are all geocachers, so the coordinates of the establishment would also be helpful.
If there is a need to edit or delete your recommendation at a future date, just post a note in this topic and one of our forum admins will take care of making the change.
Thanks in advance for your recommendations! |

We'd echo FuFu's note about the Golden Inn in Superior. We ate there tonight, and were well pleased. The Family Combo's are good!
We spent half as much as in Hayward last night, had more to eat, the service was friendlier and more efficient, and the food was better. We'll stop again, if we ever are in Superior again - the last time was 20 years ago, other than just driving through!

Ate at "Sparx" in Menominee on Tuesday night and would definitely go back for the nightly special. Half-pound burgers for $2, tap pints for $2, sides for $1. Fed the family of four for under $25 and that's with two rounds of suds and the burgers were great. Had lunch there on the way back and the portions were a bit smallish, but I would definitely recommend Tuesday night.
This is right off the main exit on Hwy 29, going south, on the west side of the road. I believe it was formerly a Green Mill. |

If your even close to Eau Claire, you have to try these places to eat. Eau Claire has had many wonderful restaurant over the years yet these are two that have existed since the 70's or earlier even though they aren't at their original location. Having grown up in Eau Claire Wisconsin, these are two places I ALWAYS stop and eat at when I visit my sister at the old family home.
Olympic Flame, 2920 London Road, Eau Claire, WI 54701
(715) 835-7771 (Small restaurant, The best gyros by far of any I have tried anywhere!)
Ray's Place, 838 Water Street, Eau Claire, WI 54703-5637
(715) 832-3991 (Tavern, Out of this world hot ham or beef sandwiches as well as wonderful soup!) |

The Olympic Flame is a favorite of mine too. Great food--I have not had better gyros anywhere, and the greek salad is great too. Atmosphere is not much, but if you want great greek, it is the place to go.

We were watching Diners drive in's and dives on the food channel last night and they did a show on the Anchor Bar and Grill in Superior Wi. I thought that was really cool. We have been to a few places he has had on his show in the Duluth area, and the food was great. So we are looking forward to visiting the Anchor bar and Grill. 413 Tower Ave Superior Wi. If it made the show, it has to be good. |

Yes! I will agree very good place. I didn't get the whole story cuz I was at work, but they also just recenty won some very big award. Big enough to be mentioned on small town radio in Hayward an hour away. |

Thanks for the reminder! I use to stop there on a regular basis when I would go to Eau Claire to see family but for some reason got out of the habit. Time to stop again. |

Finally made it to The Anchor bar and Grill. 413 Tower Ave Superior Wi. Man, was that a neat place. No wonder why it was on Diners drive ins and dives. It was a dive, but man can they kick out the food, which was great, and the beer is ice cold. Rustic Nautical Lake Superior theme with a lot to look at. We will return, packed with people, all having a great time. Can you say Gold Mine? |

I've always thought that was the funniest restaurant name I'd ever seen. I even kept their placemat taped to the inside of my kitchen cabinet so I could open it up when I needed a quick laugh. |
