Caching solo is getting old with Ms. Honeybunny busy. Are there any Central Wisconsin cachers interested in carpooling and raiding the virgin troves of West Bend? I'm heading down Sunday the 25th for sure.

Great minds think alike! I'm dragging the kids up to do a caching run in West Bend on Sunday too! Definitely wanted to hit Super Sized, then were going to do a bunch more of the kid-friendly ones. Maybe we'll meet up?

Well I live in Kewaskum about a couple minutes north of West Bend. I wish I would have waited I have about 13 to do yet in West Bend. Might be a few more. The super size one is a good one. Had fun doing that one. If you need any assistance feel free to email me.

Hi just wanted to give you a heads up. If you plan on doing Super Size or Pure Evil you can get access to these from Cheerywood Circle it is a shorter route to these caches. I am telling you this because I did have a problem today when trying to do Pure Evil. I didn’t find it but I did put a note on the cache page about what happened. I have copy what I wrote and have enclosed it below.
Russ aka russell_53040
What a bad day. Found the spot alright but didn’t find the cache. When I got back to the car ran into the guy that lived next to the park. We got talking about what I was doing and he said he has talked to a lot of people. While we were talking a lady came down and told me that I was on private property. The guy I was talking to said no it was not. She did not like to here that and said she don’t like all these cars driving down her road. She then wrote down my plate number and went home and called the police. Well they showed up and we basically told them what we had told the lady. He told me that I should not use this road to access the trails that I should use the one down the road. I also told him that there was not any no parking signs here and that there is a trail there. Well when I got home I called the park service and I was told “I could use that trail to access the ice age trails and that is public property”. I was also told that if this should happen again when I go back that I should tell the officer to contact the park service at
262-335-5080. So if anybody uses Cherrywood Circle to access this cache you can park here and you can access the paths from here. Also if the neighbor is outside that is on the left when facing north stop and talk to him. He is a very nice guy. Maybe you might want to invite him to go with you. Well I will be trying this one again in the next few days.

Marc_54140 and I talked to that same guy and his wife back when we did Super sized. They said it was a public acess and didn't have a problem with us being there. Didn't see any neighbors the last time we used the same access point in July.

Too bad that people seem to feel they own the whole woods when if fact they own much less. It's human nature and I have seen the same thing in my hunting woods where someone has permission to hunt on 10 acres, and think the figgin own 200. Image

Personally, if I had to do either again....I would use the main access point with signs. We didn't see it for Super Sized but saw it when we left.

I parked at CherryWood today (during my lunch hour) and hiked in to Super Sized...on my way I saw two huge white mushrooms the size of EnergySAver's (Ron) head. There is a small sign next to the trail head. I've never had anyone approach me good or bad the few times I had parked there. Either way, the terrain rating is accurate. Happy Hunting!

Thanks for all the info! Now they're talking rain for the weekend. Hope they're wrong.

You all mention Cherrywood, but I was wondering about Jansen as well. Is there access there too?

Not sure but then you would be better off parking on Park Ave. There is parking on the side of the road there. Yep calling for rain this weekend. Wanted to go camping this weekend but not gonna since it is suppose to rain.

What!
You cancelled a camping trip due to the threat of rain?
You must have lived in Wisconsin long enough to realize that the weather predictors are only right about 20% of the time.
Even if it does rain. You can always put on your raingear and go caching in the area.

Jansen is a no go....no parking available and no access to the trails. Cherrywood is your best bet for super sized and pure evil.
Happy Hunting! Tami

Thanks for the extra info! I have many ecoranger caches on my to-do list for this weekend.

Still keeping my fingers crossed weather-wise. (Sorry but I hate caching in the rain. Don't mind the rain itself, but the kids get ornery and it's hard to keep things dry).

I'm suprised you could see mushrooms as small as my head. Maybe you don't need glasses after all.

Did our West Bend run yesterday to avoid the thunderstorms. Cached all afternoon until dark and left plenty to do on another trip.

We know what mushrooms you are talking about now! One of them was getting moldy though.

Fortunately, no problems with neighbors.
