Hello. I'm new Wisconsin, relatively novice to geocaching, and new to your site. I had previously cached in 2007 in Southern California. For a myriad of reasons I fell out of the sport, though one of my hobbies remained reminiscing on how much fun I had geocaching.
In October of this past year I moved to Wisconsin and currently live in Fond du Lac. For Christmas my amazing and wonderful boyfriend purchased me a handheld gps so we could geocache and backpack in the warmer months. It's only the end of January, but, eh, it's warm enough, and I was excited, so this past weekend I threw on an extra sweater and took him out to learn why caching is so fun.
I've been lurking your folks site for a few days, am considering attending an event or two that you all have posted for this next month, and would feel awkward posting to the forum or attending if I didn't at least say howdy, so, hello. |

Welcome and by all means, attend some events, let us know who you are. You are in a Cache-rich area in FDL, you've got some cachin' to do. Have fun. |

Welcome aboard! You definitely don't have to wait until warmer weather to find some caches! And then again, there are plenty of puzzles to solve if you prefer to stay indoors and keep warm. There is something for everybody!
Hope to meet you at some events. It is a great way to meet people and find out some interesting geocaching stories! |

Glad to see you pick back up this bad habit. You;ve joined back in at the right time. There's 2 WGA events in the next 3 weeks and several more Leap Day events on the horizon.
Let any of us know if you have any questions. |

Hey! A new caching neighbor! Drove through Fondy this morning to grab a cache on the east side!
If I would have known, I would have beeped the horn all the way through town!
I'm west of Fond du Lac, in Rosendale (don't speed here!). With the 2 Events over in Horicon, you can meet a bunch of cachers, if your so inclined!
Welcome to the WGA and Wisconsin! |

Welcome aboard the good ship craziness. It's really a great group of people here in the WGA. And welcome to WI also which I assume is a far cry different that CA as far as weather goes. Caching here will give you a great opportunity to fumble with a micro log with frozen fingers, chip ice / shovel snow to reveal the hide, play amongst the poison ivy, battle the mosquitoes (our state bird), etc.
Seriously though WI is a great place to cache during all seasons and see nature at it's finest. Every season provides it's own unique opportunities as do the various portions of the state. |

I'm just not feeling very witty, unlike our previous posters, so I will just say welcome! Hope to see you at some events! |

Teehee. I've heard that in Rosendale there's a place where the speed limit goes from 50 to 35 without warning, and that there is a cop sitting at the sign just waiting for people to pull over and to be extra careful when driving through that area.
Also, yep, those Horicon events were exactly what I was thinking, the chili potluck looks fun. =)

Neato. My boyfriend actually has a work related meeting he has to attend there on Saturday, pending what time he has to be that way (sometimes his meetings are early in the day and sometimes they're at night), I might see if I can tag along and swing by. If we're in that area, there will be one or two of us pending what his meeting entails. I'll add myself to the log for the event.
Again thanks to everyone for the sweet welcome! =) |
