I use a Garmin Nuvi 760 as my car gps. I have been using it for a long time and suddenly I can't load caches into it anymore. I use Pilotsnipes garmin-nuvi-exportgpx.gsk macro (version 2.0) with GSAK. This macro is not supported on the GSAK site anymore. Once the macro has run then Garmin poi loader 2.5.2 is used to load the caches into the Nuvi. Doing it this way makes a tourguide file so the caches "pop up" as a tourguide when you get within a set distance of them. Now after the macro runs I get an error when the poi loader runs that says Geocache Tourguide.gpx is invalid. I tried other macros and I also tried using the latest poi loader and none of it works. Anybody have any ideas???? |

You could try loading from the GPS drop down on GSAK and not use a macro at all. There's a "setup" option where you select the unit you are using. If your particular Nuvi isn't listed, there is a "generic" choice which works with ours. |

Tried that and couldn't get it to work at all. It said the caches were loaded but could not find them anywhere in the Nuvi.
I have been experimenting with it and now I can get it to work at least part time! Haven't experimented enough yet but I'm thinking it might possibly have something to do with the number of waypoints that are loaded. Still trying to problem solve the issue.[/quote] |

I use GSAK also with my Nuvi (205W). You have to look in the "Custom POI" menu to see them. The cool thing is that it's another paperless option because it stores all the miscellaneous cache info. |

Ran into a loading problem with a nuvi, and ultimately had success using Garmin BaseCamp.
GSAK -> gpx file on computer drive -> Basecamp -> dragged & dropped into nuvi. Sounds like you won't need this, but might be of use some day. |

Our new nuvi 1450 would not accept the waypoints when loaded with the POI loader. That sent them to "extras," and the moment I clicked on one to navigate, the unit shuts off! We ended up doing what Captain and Mate suggest, loading it from the drop down. We don't get the cache info, but we're only using it to get us to the parking spots, anyway. It's worked out just fine this way. |

we use this Macro, its not "paperless" as you only get the cache name, and hider info. but if you are using a "paperless GPS for the field, and the nuvi for routing only this should do the trick |

I load my Nuvi 40 using GSAK, selecting the "Nuvi (Generic)" setting. It loads into the "Favorites" area. |

Looks like your recommended macro didn't make it into your post......at least we can't pick it out. Thanks! |

For us newbies, a step by step instruction list would be great. "How to load a PQ into a GPS using GSAK." |

What "tool" (i.e. piece of software) do you currently use to load data to your GPS? |

Ah ... one by one from a PQ. Usually only load the ones I am going to do that day. I'm building a route/PQ to St Louis and then another to Branson. St Louis has 91 to enter on Dakota 20 and the Nuvi 1350. YIKES! |

Whoo hoo! It took me a while but I finally figured out the problem. It has nothing to do with the number of waypoints I am trying to download. There was one particular cache in the file that caused the error message. That cache was http://coord.info/GC3B219 Once I deleted that file from GSAK everything worked fine. This is because the file name is not understood by the Nuvi so to include that file in my download I must rename the cache something else before I export it to the nuvi. So glad this issue is finally resolved [ ] |
