If you have an IATCC (ICE AGE TRAIL) EarthCache, the coordinator is asking that you update some of the wording which pertains to the IATCC. Her email to me is below. If anyone needs help updating the code on their cache page let me know...it takes me all of about three minutes to copy your page code and insert the changes. The below new text also includes an image (look at one of the three cache below to see the image they also want included).

Dear Gary;

Re: GC1A9G5 - IATCC - Parfrey's Glen State Natural Area
GC150BF - IATCC - The Niagara Escarpment; Brady's Rock
GC1NAPX - IATCC - Hartland Marsh

I conducted an audit of the IATCC sites and found that the Ice Age Trail write-up on yours is out of date. I would appreciate it if you would update it with the following information.

"IATCC is the cache designation to highlight a series of EarthCaches along the Ice Age National Scenic Trail grouped into a special category called "ColdCache."

The Ice Age Trail is one of eleven (11) National Scenic Trails designated by the National Park Service. This unique trail is entirely within the state of Wisconsin and follows along the terminal moraine of the most recent glacier.

This project is supported by the Ice Age Trail Alliance. The goal is to bring more visitors to the trail and promote public awareness, appreciation, and understanding of Wisconsin’s glacial landscape.

More information on the Ice Age Trail Atlas, the ColdCache Project and Awards Program is available at: http://www.iceagetrail.org/coldcache.htm."

Hm, I have a few caches on the Ice Age Trail but I've never used the IATCC....thing (don't really know what that is). Should I be updating?

Are they EarthCaches? This an EC program....
If they are ECs...please list the GC numbers and I will take a look at em. Whether they are included in the program is up to the coordinator but I can get you her contact info.

The 'ColdCache link' in the updated text does not work any longer. It looks like the following link will get you where you want to go, but you still need to seek out the 'CC Tab'.

I don't think any of mine would apply. The only one that's close is GC2E5BZ, which is on a short nature loop that joins the IAT but the EC itself is not actually on the IAT.

I did look at that listing...it might qualify. Did you want me to contact the IAT folks on your behalf to see if it will qualify for their awards program?

I thought that I should finally get around to figuring out what level I'm at with the IATCC program. Could anyone tell me please what feature this one would be? I can't figure it out!

I guess I'm not sure about this one either: GC2KA27

We were wondering that as well. For this one, given the 'feature type' options that currently exist, 'Niagara Escarpment' seems the closest.

For the other cache, it seems like there should be a category for 'Other Stuff along the IAT, that might not be the result of an Ice Age'.....?
---
Comments from a couple of novices:
It looks like there is latitude given in classifying these caches, as alluded to in the title: 'What are some of the geological features an EarthCache could represent.' At this point, negotiation is probably an integral part of refining the Award Program.

Since there is an Award Program that depends on feature identification/association., it would be nice if each IATCC had a feature identified and associated with it, just like the EC's are trying to identify and list their Classifications.

Just some thoughts.

I agree with you. There were several that seemed like they could be in several categories. For example, one of them brought you to a spring but to get there you had to walk along a moraine, next to a kettle, pass some eratics, and possibly a bog.

I emailed the contact on the program page, we'll see what they have to say.
