Oh yeah! Haven't been to a good keelhauling in years!

...or maybe ever, come to think of it. Anyone got a boat?

Sorry for beating the dead horse, but ran into a scenario today that gives all cachers and geocaching a bad impression to the public.

New caches published and the page clearly states they aren't available after dark. The parking area also has a sign (where one of the caches is located) that clearly states the area is closed at dark. The one at the sign right at the parking area and is logged last night as a FTF and I blow it off as "OK" because it's near the road. No other logs on the rest, so I give the benefit of doubt that they did the right thing. I did two others on the way to work this morning and noticed lots of footprints near both GZ's. Sure enough the same cacher(s) signed these 2 logs which meant they were trespassing last night in a nature area. The online logs also clearly state the time and it's obviously well past "dark".

Maybe that falls into the "don't tell me how to play the game" category... Razz

23+ years of working Grocery/Convenience Store Biz, I have learned 3 things. People can't see, people can't read, people only read what they want to read.
Perfect example. Tuesday, with strong wind, out front door kept getting blown open and newspapers and such kept getting blown off the racks.
We had to lock the that doors and put up TWO signs asking people to use the other entrance. How may people do you think ran into the door and continued to push one the door?

I'm glad I was in Oconto on Tuesday, or it could have been me. I've pulled this bonehead move. Sometimes you just zone out with distractions real or on the mind. Although, in my defense, I would have only pushed once Rolling Eyes

Well, I think this might have already been brought up, and I just posted something about it on another thread - but someone posted a find on geocaching.com, and wrote something like "I was there, but there were kids there, so I'll sign the log in the future." When I posted my find, I wrote - you can't count it as a find until you sign the log, and they sent me an angry e-mail telling me to stop "bashing" them. Wow. I still am having a hard time with that one. And I've seen a few others like that. If someone does that on one of my caches, that gets deleted.

Jim,

How about I just log, "I drove by, and saw where it probably was, but they were playing a good song on the radio so I didnt feel like getting out of the car? I will sign it next time."

LOL. Might have to try that some day, just for fun. Really, some people just need to read the rules. In basketball, the shot only counts if it goes thru the hoop. In caching, the find only counts if there is pen to paper. Seems pretty simple to me.

Heck, I don't sign logs any more...it's not how I want to play and it doesn't bother anybody. It's just a game...or a hobby...

already players doing this for years but let's keep on topic. I even called them to let them know they forgot to sign "they don't sign PnGs"
The joy I had came from them admitting it's a point at it and leave.

arrggghhh... no more. Make me stop sharing opinions

I'm suspecting this was the case on some logs on a couple of my caches, but I let them stand even though the signatures were absent.

So if I sign your name and then tell you, you can log it as a find then? That is simple. I better go call my dad in AZ before he leaves today so he can take care of those puzzles I've solved out there.

Disclaimer - I'm not pointing the finger at Zuma, but just using his post to make the point that pen to paper is almost meaningless also.

I find most roadside p&c caches at 55 to 65 mph, and often from a mile or two away. It's how I like to clear those pesky icons from my "nearest to" map.

I don't know, my poison ivy is getting very painful. Those PnG's are looking much more attractive.

That's a great idea, and it would be equally as memorable. Thanks for the tip!

And it's safer than actually getting out into the general traffic pattern. Rolling Eyes
