The Wisconsin DNR has recently updated their web site and the link to the DNR managed lands no longer works. If I recall correctly, there had been a page on the DNR website that listed the property manager contact info for wildlife areas. I've searched and browsed the new website trying to find that information but have had no luck. I have emailed the DNR webmaster, but don't have high hopes for a speedy response (my question is probably low priority to them - not intended as a slam or anything toward he DNR).
Has anyone else found that information on the new DNR website? I'm hoping this will be like when I dnf a cache and the next person comes along and says"Quick, easy find -it's right here..." I have plans for caches in a wildlife area that currently has none, so I can't just get the info from another cache page in the same area. |

With the transition to the new website some pages are still being updated and revamped. This may be the case with the Land Management pages, hopefully it will be up and running soon.
What is the name of the Wildlife Area? I work in Wildlife Managment with the DNR and should be able to find the proper manager for you. Feel free to PM me with the information. |

You might have a "non-geocaching" need to contact the wildlife managers, but for geocaching placements in wildlife areas, fisheries, protected habitats, islands, unclassified DNR land, and the like, just send your notification form to the local service center. We are preapproved for these sorts of locations, so you don't need to wait for a response. If there is some issue with your placement, they will contact you to let you know. |

And where does one find the "local service center?" Dave is there an email address you have for them? |

The wildlife area is Liberty Creek Wildlife Area, which is south of Brooklyn and could be either Fitchburg or Janesville service center, so I'm not sure which one to send it to. Also, on the blurb on the cache page I'm supposed to say who I sent the form to. What do I put if I don't know the name of the manager?
janks15 has offered to get me the name of the property manager, but what should others do until the names are available again? |

you should be able to mention the service center that you submitted to. If it turns out to be a different center, well, thats why we can edit our pages. |

The site is still there. (They really did make the site harder to use.)

For Green county, I would send it to Fitchburg. FYI, they have never had the property managers for these smaller areas on the website. |

Thanks for the link, but I'd already found the service center addresses. The page I remember listed the wildlife areas and the name of the manager - no search capabilities or anything, just a long list. I'm not sure if every wildlife area was there, but every one I had looked for before was listed. I'd looked up the Brooklyn area shortly before the website change to make sure the same person was still the manager. Oh well, hopefully it will be back soon, and in the meantime I'll use another way to get the manager name. |

I also remember that sort of page. As for service center and such, I have always just sent mine to Steve Johnston at the New Glarus Woods office. He and I have a very good working relationship over the years. I have been able to just scan and email the form to him!! He could even be the Land Manager for the property in question.
I have not spoke to him lately, but understand that he is retiring. |
