Read the page - it is that simple! Whether you cache paperless or not. The description is there for a purpose - and often times there is specific information in the description - such as park hours, or a request to only search for a cache during daylight hours. Also, attributes are there for a reason and they are helpful. I do not always look at them ahead of time, but with a smartphone, I often look at them in the field. Reading the page seems to be common sense to me. In my humble opinion, not reading the cache page is like not paying attention to road signs when driving.

Officer: Do you realize you were going 80 mph in a 55 mph zone?
Driver: Was it only 55 mph? I don't read road signs. I am a signless driver!

I just had my mom, that's right MY MOM!, ask on my cache page if she had to come and sign the log on my challenge cache since other people from around the country may meet the requirements but may not want to travel. Trying to phrase the right response was challenging because it was my mom. I couldn't believe it!

But seriously, Ralph, I looked at your cache page and it doesn't specifically say that one must find the physical cache to log it, although most people would infer that from the write-up. You might want to state that bluntlyon your cache page ... "You must have found 100 earthcaches and this physical cache before you may log this as a find." or something along those lines. As for our friend in Germany, just tell him "I'm sorry, but in addition to being a challenge, this is also a physical cache, which you must find and sign the log for in order to log it."

I was getting the same from reading the cache page...but it is generally a given that you need to physically log the cache.

That said I do have one cache that allows a second smile without a second visit...but that is plainly written.

Hey Ralph...I am over halfway there to getting 100 earthcaches. Can I just log it as a find now. I promise I will do the rest soon! Very Happy

I guess I see your point. To me, it was obvious that you have to visit a cache, sign the log, before you logged on line. I guess that is not so obvious to every one. I may need to adjust the wording slightly.

I realize that - so my advice would be if look at them ahead of time or hang with someone who has a smartphone and be sure to cache only in areas where your friend gets coverage!

I don't have time to look at the hundreds of attributes ahead of time when my friend sends me the PQ 3 seconds before we are leaving. (smack talk) Laughing

Don't sweat it, some people just don't want to take the time to actually look at what they are looking for. If it was that much of a problem they could have just turned back and said forget it. Some people just aren't happy unless they have something to complain about.

actually the funny part is they want me to move it because of the thorns. Guess what there is a way in without going through them but don't think anybody has found it yet. Not only did I make it in there but dropped a deer there few years back.

And for those who complaining... Try looking up from your GPS unit on occasion...

And for fun, put a "LARGE" thorn attribute on the cache page...
