Just wondering if anyone has any experience with the Oregon Montana. I am interested in the 650T. Sounds like a nice unit. If you have one or have used one please give me your thoughts on it.

I talked with the Garmin rep at the West Bend Cache Bash. I asked him what the Montana does that my Dakota 20 does not. It is bigger and so is the screen. The one thing he did I say that put the Montana on my wish list is you can used it both as a handheld GPS and a vechile GPS. Of course you have to buy the appropriate accessories.

Hi! I have a 600 montana that I have now used about 5 months. I love it for geocaching, it's big I can see it while mounted on cycle, atv, and it works well in the truck also! I have went after caches with it and seems quite accurate. I like the paperless aspect of it most of all! I had a 400 colorado which offered the same info, but everything else was clunky to do on it. I like the maps that I have loaded into it (15 minute maps) 24k they really work great out in the woodlands and woods for staying on trail with atv's or most established 2 tracks, and most hiking trail systems. On the water I can follow where I need to go islands wise, or long pennisulas, or dead end coves, or river mouths. In the auto it has a very respectable road maps, but works best on Interstate intersection & exchange exits and route changes by enlargeing the view for best lanes or what lane you need to be in if the semi in front of you is blocking needed infomation signs. It is very intuitve to use! The battery lasts all day while on the cycle or atv when not plugged in, and if I needed more than that it will run on 3 double A's. I did purchase a second lithium battery which I have only used on a few times on 3 day atv rides. It stays fully charged when plugged in the truck. It is bigger, but thats what I liked about it for reading and seeing, and not a problem when hiking for my type use. Hope this helps! srvive
