I should send you the recipe for the 5 layer chocolate pie. YUMMY YUMMY I wonder if that is more sinful than the Sinful pie.

From three years ago on page 1149 of useless drivel:

OK. This recipe is for CodeJunkie and anyone else out there who wants to try it. I don't always have it come out right for me, so good luck! If your chocolate mixture doesn't turn thick enough after an hour or so in the fridge (before mixing with the whipped cream), you probably didn't cook it long enough to get the gelatin to work right. Still should taste good.

Sinful Chocolate Pie

Ingredients:
1 envelope unflavored gelatin (like Knox)
1 cup sugar
dash of salt
1 cup milk
2 ounces (squares) unsweetened chocolate, shaved

2 cups (2 half-pint cartons) heavy cream, whipped
1-10” graham cracker crust (larger size)

Combine gelatin, sugar, and salt in the top of a double boiler. Add milk and blend. Mix in shaved chocolate. Place over simmering (not boiling) water; heat, stirring occasionally to dissolve gelatin and sugar. Heat until chocolate is melted--maybe 10 minutes. Chocolate mixture will have a “flecked” look to it. Remove from heat and place in refrigerator. Stir every 15 minutes for about an hour till mixture mounds and thickens somewhat.

Meanwhile, whip the cream in a large mixing bowl. Fold in thickened chocolate mixture a small amount at a time. Blend thoroughly (will have light chocolate coloring). Pour into graham cracker crust. Cover, and refrigerate until set. Set pie may be frozen or cut into pieces and the pieces individually frozen. Garnish with more shaved chocolate or dollop of whipping cream, if desired.

Alternative: Use three 9” pie shells (normal size). Make two batches of chocolate mixture separately, one right after the other. Whip cream in two separate bowls. Blend as two separate batches. Fill two pie shells, one from each batch. Mix together remains from both batches to get uniform color, and pour into third pie shell.

Any excess filling mixture can be uses as a “dip” for graham cracker sticks.

My recent research led me to discover this milestone (scored by CodeJunkie) that passed unnoticed here:

I wonder what day you would count those if you found them? It's November 9 in Belgium and November 8 still here.

Local date / time (unless I needed to fill a date)

Now that you brought THAT milestone up, we'll hear about it until CJ shoots a nice buck!

But, HEY! Keep up the useless research! Cool

Best Thanksgiving ever:

My mother went to Orlando to visit the older brother's wife while he was stuck working in Boston. It was my dad, my younger brother, and myself. We grilled three T-bones,three baked potatoes and sauteed some mushrooms and onions. I think every neighbor within three houses came over to tell us it was not fair. Good times.....that was until the snowstorm caused my mom to be stuck at the Detroit airport for two days on the return trip. She still talks badly about that nearly 18 years later. Every time she mentions that airport stay, I can still smell those steaks grilling in the cold air.

I usually skip the pie.

Had to go to an IEP meeting this afternoon for an autistic kid. His mom wants us to stop providing speech and occupational therapy for him. Mama always said, "Stupid is as stupid does."

Got a vacation day for 12-12-12. Have not decided what event to attend, but leaning towards the Merrill event. Appleton is closer but I've been to Appleton many times while I have never been to Merrill so it will be nice to go to a new area.

I don't think I'm welcome at the Merrill event Sad
