Hiking caches not to be missed????

We like caches that require a bit of effort...hiking miles or more into areas with natural beauty.

So....tell me your favorites of this type in the state. I know there are still many in the Kettle Moraine like this we have yet to do, but where else? We don't need to have a "trail" of caches to find on this hike. Don't mind that, but don't need that, either. We did most of the caches on the Ige Age Trail by New Auburn last month and just loved that. Thanks.

Forgotten Forest Roads have been forgotten for nearly 2 years now wink

We just did these two last week.
GC411C2 and GC3C0DA
Your Check is in the Trail despite being a long hike had very clever waypoints. You can also pass the oldest cache in Waukesha County while doing this one. These are on the IAT.
Black Bottom Stomp is in the Ten Chimneys Nature Area along with four other caches.
Relatively easy in winter right now.

Well, you might know about these but I really like all the Timberline Echo's caches... but you MIGHT know about them already Smile

I'll second his suggestion having done all but one of them. Don't forget McCarthy Lake in the middle of the group.

30 miles southeast of this is my "No Name Lake Series" off HWY 182. Three of the 6 are Lonely. Plus they are closer to Hurley...(another shameless promotion of personal caches)

Tom, We're all for anything that is closer to Hurley. There are only about 5-6 within 30 miles we haven't found yet, at least the last time either of us looked.

It does seem like "long hike" has really been truncated in recent years, or if a long hike is desired, you find something like the group of caches on the Chippewa IAT. We look forward to visiting all of these suggestions as time allows, though. Thanks everyone!

Not to beat a dead horse, but as long as NWT is promoting his caches, I still haven't seen a log from T&B on any of my Ursa Minor caches in the Mead Wildlife Area. Cool

I have to say that I really love hiking in the Southern Kettle Moraine SP. There are plenty of caches down there to choose from. I discovered Collectables Cache (GCDB0), an oldie and goodie, because of the LCG. That was a great walk through the woods. I think I'd rather find the final in the winter too because it is hidden in a massive thorn patch! There are several other caches on the trail too. You just really can't go wrong in that area. You're right, Jim. I don't know why we haven't been up there yet, I've been really interested in the Smoky Hill one up there, too.
