If the bash headquarters were at a place where camping is available like the fairgrounds, would you like that and/or use it? Comments on if you think this would cause problems and why. Very Happy

I didn't vote in the polls because none of the options are applicable. I DO camp, but I wouldn't at the cache ba$h because I live fairly close. If I select "no I wouldn't camp" it states on the poll something like "...because I don't like camping." That is not the case.

I'm with the hacks, we love camping but have old friends that live nearby so we stay with them.

I think that could turn quickly into a logistical nightmare. If you are charging money to set up camp, being sure you collect from each group/tent/person/whatever could be difficult to coordinate unless you had a gated area that everyone would have to come through to have access to the site and it would need to be manned 24/7 lest you have folks sneaking in to set up.
Also, established campgrounds/sites usually have fire rings for camp/cook fires. Is that something the fairgrounds could accomodate or would a portable campfire enclosure / grills only mandate be in effect? Restroom facilities would need to be coordinated also if not already available in great number depending on how many would be camping there.

there is always the potential that the rowdy people would be coming back at all hours and disturbing others. Would there be hours posted during which you can and cannot access the campsites? Most if not all the state parks have quiet hours when the park is closed to visitors unless you are camping and at which time you need to be in your sites.

Certainly not saying this couldn't work, just giving some things to take into consideration.

It seems like this might fly in the face of the CoC goal of driving people to local businesses. The fairgrounds is pretty remote.

Maybe, maybe not. I know of people having to go to Menomonee Falls for a hotel because everything was booked in West Bend. Maybe this would help provide more places for people to sleep locally.

I think it would be a great idea, It would be more like MWGB. Camping and the event in the same area. Not all would stay there, the hotels and restaurants would still be hit by the cachers.

Well, I guess you can tell I have never done a poll on here before Shocked I was just curious since our county has a large fairgrounds with camping if this is something we could ask the Chamber to consider in the future. I did hear that hotels and campgrounds were filled this year, that is why I asked. I personally think it would be fun, because it would continue the social aspect of it. I was just curious, this would be - of course - the Chamber's decision anyways. Very Happy

On a side note, how far out from WB were hotels filled? I was wondering how far I may have to go from WB if I was to like, book a room at the last minute at the next event? I thought about doing that last week but was afraid I may be an hour away.

Thanks. I never was one to book early. I'm a spontaneous type of guy. I usually get lucky in booking rooms at last minute, but only in areas that don't have large events going on.

If I do go next year, I got a cousin who lives 10 minutes from WB, if that. I can stay with him.

Thanks again for the info.
