Wonder how many bears I'll see next week.

I'm at one for the year, and I hope it stays that way. Shocked

I don't mind if I'm in a car and see one but it's when one crosses between me and the direction I'm heading that I don't like. It'll take me 4 days total to get back to my car when I start hiking on Sunday.

Just don't carry food that a bear can sniff out.

That's kind of hard to do but I will be hanging my pack at night far away from the tent.

As I was eying how to best get an evil monkey, I thought I poked myself on a stick, until there were many buzzing flying things circling my head! One little stinger got me 3 times on the back of my arm, though I only felt 1 bite. The 3 welts say otherwise!

The one consolation is that I wasn't UP in the tree. I would have been fresh meat while sitting on that perch, about 20 feet in the air!

I didn't know I could run that fast, spinning my hat like a human helicopter! It took about 300 yards to get the last 1 away from me!

aren't you supposed to play dead and they leave you alone???

Oh, yeah, that's bears...

Hey ZB, here's some advice for you. Of course there are no grizzly bears in Wisconsin, but ...

My back is not going to like me after this hike. I think I'll stash my crappy old mountain bike somewhere around the 75% mark just incase I can go no farther.

I'm sorry to hear that you two. I had the wasp stings earlier this summer, not fun! Feel better soon! BTW, there are wasps everywhere lately!
