Just a reminder, if your a state resident, but driving a rental car with out of state plates, you pay out of state fees. Found this out at Willow River State Park. Crying or Very sad

I would think that if you show your Wisconsin resident Driver's License they wouldn't charge out of state fees, unless perhaps you had a carload of Yoopers

More likely to have a carload of Minnesotans at Willow River.

The sticker is for an state licensed vehicle and must be permanently attached. If a Wisconsin resident buys one you could not put it on an out of state vehicle. The stickers are different. We have stickers on all three of ours. It says senior on it. Otherwise it is the same as the one you would buy. $10 each for us. Sometimes it pays to be old, but more often than not it sucks. The money I saved on the stickers I spend annually on Alleve.

I can't tell you how many times I've borrowed my husband's car to save money on gas on my many trips to Pike Lake to do maintenance on the Dr. Seuss caches, only to remember once I'd gotten there that he doesn't have a sticker. I finally broke down and bought one for his car. They were nice and said they'd believe me that I had one on my other car and they only charged me half price for the second one.

Thanks Mr G, that makes sense. also not sure if they meant they bought the sticker(wouldn't buy a sticker for a rental car) or the day pass.
A day pass just sits there on the dash.

Park stickers are a GREAT investment. We have one for every vehicle. You pay full price for the first one and then half price for all of the others. We even have them on our motorcycles. It only cost us $62.50 and I know we have gotten our money's worth out of that investment and more!

That's what I thought so I'll just get a day pass for the WGA picnic as I'm not sure when I'll be at a state park again.

I don't think I ever buy my stickers before April, as nearly every property I visit is unattended on the weekends during the winter. The exception would be Lapham Peak, and most of the time I'm hiking into there along the IAT. As I'm driving my 18 year old truck which is only on its 3rd windshield, I have lots of old stickers, so I think I sometimes get a pass from the rangers. (unfortunately, it is starting to affect visibility with all the stickers...)

If you ever want to remove those old stickers, ask to use the product they have at the Parks counter. It works extremely well and fast. Beats what you might have at home by far.
