We were sent a link to a youtube video made by GeoVlogger. It shows his crew finding 2 of our caches in the Dells. It leads people right to them and shows the hide. Also I would imagine that with all the yelling and camera work going on the muggles really enjoyed it. If those 2 caches start to have problems we sure know who to pin it on. Come on Man give us a break, both of those caches have had a lot of difficulty.

He's from Illinois, but I don't think has caching name is GeoVlogger. He regularly posts videos on Facebook and YouTube.

Sending you a PM with a link to the video I think you're talking about.

You know it is crap like this that makes us question why we hide caches. The is very little respect for the people that make this game possible. No hidders nothing to find.

We have communicated with the Vlogger ( geocachingvlogger ) from MN and he has offered to remove the video of our caches from the Internet. He says that he normally gets permission first but for some reason didn't this time. We did request that he remove the video. Thanks everyone for the help.

Well, to be honest, I am a big fan of his. I like his videos and have subscribed to his videos. Not everyone goes on youtube and looks for videos to find local caches. His videos are the only ones that I've seen that are even close to being nearby, and he's a state away. He probably made a poor choice being so obvious in a high-muggle area though.

He's apparently offered to do the "right" thing which is encouraging. I think it's important to be realistic and approach it from the high road. That appears to be happening here and nobody is just outright bashing him. Maybe he made a mistake and if he's willing to fix it, great.

It's nice to see that everyone didn't jump on the "negative" bandwagon here in the forums. People seems to be sticking to the facts and acting like mature adults. AWESOME!!!!

We had found those two hides quite a while ago, and it was interesting to see how they had changed since then. That shows how much work Team Sloughfoot does to keep those hides (and their other ones) going in such a busy place as the Dells. Thanks, John and Gail!

The video is no longer available.

I did tell the VLogger that his video was well done and entertaining and he apologized for not getting permission first ( we may not have given permission due to the problems we have had in the Dells this year ).

It just seems that all of geocachings emphasis is on the consumer (finder) and none on the producer (hider) and we are just a little sick of it. Smartphone APPS that allow anyone to find caches sounds like a good idea (if you are the finder) but our incidents of mischief have certainly increased since this became available.

But I am getting sidetracked. This problem seems to be solved unless the caches disappear in the near future.
John
