Okay...to clarify...I, MB, made that post. CB is a Garmin man. It's okay, we have great balance! Though he often loses reception, he does a nice job of just feeling his way around and finding the "hootie" at just the right time!

It's kinda of interesting to have one of each kind, when out and about finding caches, just to see the differences in accuracy, etc. Have not seen a Lowrence yet. Would be kinda neat to get one of each kind of GPSr and do our own comparing. Maybe do that sometime at an event.

At the WGA Picnic, I know we all flagged that one WPT. Just to yank chains, we put ours about 30 ft away, in a tree!! ROFLMBO

We have 2 garmins and have cache with f-trup who have 2 magellan ... I really think all 4 units agree pretty well on the readings. However, the magellan units seem to take an extra 10 or 15 seconds to settle in on a reading if your walking fast. But maybe I just walk too slow!

I have noticed that when I turn on more of the features on my GPSR, it does slow it down a bit. But it only takes a couple of seconds for it to catch up. I also know that CB's jumps in an out of signal lock often, and mine VERY RARELY loses satellite reception. In the end though, we usually end up searching the same area for the hootie.

Without the "r" you are planning on buying a very expensive satelite in the sky.

So far most I've done I'm familiar with the areas already...can read the description and say "I know where that is". Then I take my handy-dandy compass for dummies and try to figure out the last of it. Doesn't always work of course, esp. if there aren't any extra clues like a parking spot or what end of the 10 mile trail it is on. Hence, I am going to invest in a GPS-R (R u proud of me, hehe).

Who needs a GPSr...
We were able to quickly get a First Find at lunch today by just using lostoutdoors.com maps. I left my unit at home and did not have time to go get it. The map, reading the listing, and a little common sense lead us right to it.

On Sunday I'm going to Rhinelander area for a fun horse/dog show. Anyone know of any easier to find caches up that way I can find without a GPSr?

I just ordered some travel bug tags...can't wait to start my own.

We live 25 miles from Rhinelander. You may be able to get the one at South Park School by Brett P. without a GPS. If you go to Three Lakes the one in the Wayside series called "The Prettiest" is easy and if you are that close you could try the one at the Three Lakes school. Doc Barney in Eagle River may be possible too. Not sure how any would be without a GPSr though. How much free time will you have?

I don't know how much time I will have. I'm attending a fun show and it is come and go as we please. I just thought perhaps it would be fun to hit at least one while we were in that neck of the woods.

I'll in actuality be off Hwy. K and it is a Harshaw address. I looked up her zip and saw a few but can't be out bushwacking for hours, LOL.
