While at the Way Up Nord Event, we got into some pretty indepth, fireside chat. One of these conversations was not so profound but interesting and was about the counties in WI we have cached in.

When the event was kicked off, we found Trudy and the Best departing for Florence Co. first thing, instead of the temps. why would that be??? Well, it seems another popular goal is hitting all the counties in Wisconsin. So.......... here we go...I'll start the list off.

I used a listing of all the counties, from the website: http://www.wisconsin.gov/state/core/wisconsin_counties.html

For a general map of all counties only, I used http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/maps/wisconsin_map.html

For myself, I can color in the counties I have cached in then list them. (I need visuals LOL) I am using a 3 letter code for counties, except for co's with 2 names, i.e. Eau Claire = EC or Green Lake = GL. A few co's started with the same 3 letters, so I chose those which sound similar to actual co. name.

If a listing of the counties with coresponding code letter is wanted, just e-mail me at.

Thanks Marc, for the initial stats idea. If you would like to participate, please e-mail me the info you have on your cached counties at

cacheboppinbunnyfufu at yahoo dot com

Just list your co's in the e-mail, I'll convert them over to the 3 letter code. Thanks!! Anne

Easy way? I have not found one.

I ran a PQ of all my finds and then exported them into Mapsource, which is pretty easy to use in determining where the county lines are in most places.

Switch to the "lowest" detail setting and zoom out to about 30 miles.

Got somewhat of a tally together, but just numbers. Working with marc_54140 for a format to put ALL stats together...... possibly!!!! We need to devise something different since the lists of actually states and WI counties is getting VERY long. This is what I have so for. Please feel free to continue to add counties to the list. Just let me know which one that might be OR the total number you are up to.

So far.............

13 WI counties for Lostby7
17 WI counties for Cache_boppin_BunnyFuFu
30 WI counties for AstorD
35 WI counties for Timberline Echoes
38 WI counties for Trudy & The Beast
38 WI counties for sweetlife
44 WI counties for Cathunter
65 WI counties for Natloh2
