Okey Dokey CoastieGal04... it sounds like we do have a number of us camping out, but are we going to Lil Otters or are we thinking about Mirror Lake, which was also mentioned?? Either place I think I am looking at a LATE arrival LOL
Hey Lil otter... if we sack out at your place, whats the coords over yaonder??? |
I'll privately email out my coors to any campers wishing to setup around my firepit.. please write me at LorrieUSA at aol.com for the coords.. I'll so enjoy the company so don't feel as if I'll be overwhelmed.. just setup here and come/go as ya please.. and kick back around my campfire in the evenings of the weekend and retell all your geo-tales..

I wouldn't have had the time to go earlier, as my weekends are pretty booked.
Has anyone seen the latest log on the Gauntlet?
Anyone have a helicopter that we can use? |

The sad thing is they tried to make it easy with the helicopter but ended up running into problems anyway. No one runs The Gauntlet "clean"... you just prepare ahead of time and bring enough equipment to tackle most any situation, and know you are going to have an adventure doing it (this is the fun of it).
Speaking of problems, a common problem with summertime finders seems to be bee/wasp stings. The problem may be even worse this year (right Bec? ) due to the lack of rainfall in central WI this spring. I was talking to a friend of mine who is doctor, and she gave me a bunch of these bee/wasp/insect sting swabs. They have lidocaine for pain relief (they actually numb your skin), and something to keep down the swelling (cortisone?).
Also, if anyone going is allergic to bee stings let me know and I can get an epinephrine kit or two. Maybe I should get one even if no one thinks they are allergic just to be safe. Of course, the thought of me injecting you with a big needle/syringe/pen thing should be enough to get you out of any sort of shock you are experiencing...
Lindsey, in a week or two you probably want to create a new forum thread to get a final attendance count. I think we also did some coordination about who was bringing what equipment by email... Fu was the team leader last time so she may have some suggestions on how to handle this. |

This is why we have to abandon this topic and start a new fresh topic John (we want everyone to know the date, and need to know who is attending)... |

(hobbling around).. I sure hope my sprained ankle is better come July 22nd about 8am .. (smiles).. that's the correct time we are meeting up at the Gauntlet, right???
(I saw others suggesting a new forum topic to start to make it easier to find the date and time.. I couldn't find a new one so answered here)
Also, for those wishing to camp here around my firepit can you email me (hopefully my spam blocker didn't block any) I'll give out my lon/lat in emails to those camping or wishing to hang out around the campfire..
LorrieUSA at aol dot com Use "Gauntlet - camping" as the email subject so I can spot it easily (if your email was left unanswered.. please let me know here and I'll contact you)
And I think it would be a good idea to post a 'note' on the Gauntlet page letting others know about the gathering for the 22nd.. that way those fearful of trying it alone might reconsider and attempt it with us on the 22nd. I'd have done it but there was no set time decided and didn't wish to confuse anyone..
