OK, being new to this sport, I wasn't real sure as to what kind of loot into my caches. So I hit the local dollar stores in town. Are these acceptable items? These are the items split between the two.

2 Blowing bubbles
2 caribiner key chains
2 Rubber ducky's
2 Fishing lures
2 small Toy Story figurines
2 small AA flashlights
2 coupons for a free bag of pop corn from a local store
2 Sawyer County sportsman's maps
2 Travel Bugs (that I found)

Are these OK Items?

I am kicking around a few ideas for a couple mystery-multi caches. I just want to make sure that these items will suffice is all. Make the caches worthily.

You might want to rethink the bubbles......... they can leak and get the swag wet. Come winter you have to worry about those things freezing......again breakage and leakage. And do the lures have sharp hooks......sometimes little ones dig in before lookin in.

Otherwise the items listed sound pretty nice. It's always so exciting to put out your first caches. Have fun.

I also agree.... The bubbles tend to leak and make a mess inside of a cache. Kids often dig in with wild abandon and could get stabbed by a hook. You can leave the fishing lures in there, just be sure they are in a seperate box, or there is something covering the hooks.

There are small fishing lures that are in a package yet so I think they'd be ok.They also go with the theme of the title of the cache The bubbles I thought about for awhile. I put all the items in a large zip lock but left the bubbles out thou. Was planning on going up and replacing them after the first freeze as its not to far from my home and would not freeze right away. Any other suggestions for items? And thanks for your replies!

If your flashlights have batteries in them, that may be a problem. I've never seen anything bad happen with batteries, but if they're sitting in a sealed metal box in this hot hot hot weather, things could get icky.

Otherwise, good items! Cool

It's not just the freezing. If the cache gets hot enough and the bubble bottle is upside down in the cache, the heat can make the air in the bottle expand and force the liquid out. I'd definitely keep them in their own separate ziplocs.

Also, believe it or not, there is perfume in soap bubbles, which will have a tendency to draw critters. If you are using Ammo boxes, you should be alright, but for other containers you should leave out the bubbles.
