I'd say that anyone that starts the cache on their own has to finish it on their own without any help from the rest of the group. If one individual or small group starts the cache and then gets stuck at a waypoint, runs into impassible terrain because they don't have the right gear, etc. I'm not going to help them... heck, even if they have some sort of medical emergency I would be tempted to just leave them out in the bush. Twisted Evil

Speaking of group management, we will probably end up splitting into two or more "teams" again to tackle this one. This is where the FRS radios are such a valuable tool because they provide communication to keep everyone on the same page... so definitely bring them if have them. Last time, there were times that the two teams were out of radio contact, so if people have more powerful radio equipment (GMRS, commercial band, ham stuff, etc.) we could probably make use of it.

I'm sure I speak for the group when I say that we'd LOVE to have another experienced cacher like you join us on the hunt. I'm assuming you are just coming for the day? If so, be at the parking area at 9 sharp and don't forget all your gear.

Note that there have also been rumors of some IL individuals coming north of the cheese curtain to join the group... but I haven't heard back for sure yet. Hopefully these people will come better equipped than their fellow statesmen (Genius Loci, Hutt) who scored a DNF on The Gauntlet last weekend, and then later returned for a second try.

Hey all!
Only a couple more days left til We challenges the Gauntlet... For those who haven't heard yet (or got the email i sent out) Saturday morning we are meeting up at 9am in the parking lot near WPT1.. For those that want to join us for dinner after wards are more then welcome to join us.. might hit a couple of caches after the Gauntlet if there is time so make sure you do a PQ... I won't be able to reply to any emails at my home email.. (sorry will be at work starting tomorrow all the way up til Friday)

Just the word for the wise.. watch out for those deer.. they are some sneaky guys.. i will not be in my own car as its now in the body shop waiting for parts from a run in with a deer two Fridays ago.. (another reason why i haven't been on lately been dealing w/ insurance company and the body shop) I'm sure with most of you being from the area you know all about them.. i should too being from Ohio, but the darn thing came out of nowhere! oh well...

But anyway.. See ya all on Saturday or the ones who are camping see ya Friday night!
Don't forget Saturday at 9am in the parking lot by the WPT1

See ya all there !

I'll be down there with Digital Dan on Friday evening, but not sure about the camping yet. It seems my hubby had loaned out our 2 tents and those people to whom we loaned them decided to loan them to someone else, without asking. guess they figured since he have a place up north we wouldn't need a tent?? so go lend it out??? Some peoples children..I'll tell ya.

anyway.. as of this time, we are still trying to get the tents back, but might have to Trudy camp this one. We will DEFINITELY be there for the campfire camaraderie though.

See ya there!!

Seth, I just sent you a PM. Are you just going to stop by on Saturday night? We might not be back until later if we go out to eat after The Gauntlet (and some folks may be going straight home after... and others may be going straight to the hospital Shocked). You (and any others who want to join in the socializing) would have a better chance of meeting people on Friday night if you can make it then.

If something comes up (car trouble, family emergency, or you chicken out Smile) and you aren't going to make it, please get in touch with somebody so we don't sit around waiting for you all morning. I will be staying near Lil Otter's Den so I should be at the parking area well before 9am. You can call me on my cell phone, (414) 975-1509 if issues arise.

Also, it seems some people have not been given the location of Lil Otter's Den. I know she is sensitive about giving out her address, so please try to contact her first. If you have nothing by Thursday night, I will (hesitantly) provide you with this information if you email me. I will not be checking email on Friday, so you would need to call if you want this info then. Also, if you want to Trudy camp (stay in a hotel), I have information about the official Trudy campground for the event.

Hi all,

Since I am a late addition, and havent posted much in this forum, I just wanted to confrim coming. I plan to meet at wpt 1 at 0900, then taking my camper to Lil Otter;s

I hope to do some caching both Sat and Sun in the area in addition to the Gauntlet, that is if I can still hobble.

Also, I thought someone would be staying with me in the camper, but it turns out I will be alone. So if anyone would like to stay in my camper, just let me know. I have room for 1 to 3.

zuma

I plan on driving up from Tinley Park IL. in the morning to meet up with you all at 9am. I did not have firm plans till today. I will head out at 5 am, GPS says 3.5 hours drive. Look for the guy with Illinois plates.

Going home is another story... If I'm beat up from the cache I may need a place to sleep over. If I'm in good shape, I will attempt the drive home.

Other than my own MREs, PSE and water do you need me to bring anything?

Jake

I'd like to apologize to the group for not being there at 9am. My plans changed last minute and I was forced to go MUCH earlier than the group. I left a message on Jeremy's cell phone at 9am so that you wouldn't wait for me. I found wp1 about 1/2 hour after the sun rose, which would have been about 4 hours prior to your arrival. I wish I was able to catch up with you all as I had really been looking forward to it but my absence was unavoidable.
