Hi, we are new at this but found a TB from Georgia with a coin and tag.
Wondering if WI has a coin and how do we get one? Having loads of fun. Our numbers are low yet just started this summer.[/b] |

I'm not 100% sure, more like 99% sure that the wisconsin geocoins have all sold out. f you watch e-bay, you may see one pop up now and then. |

If you are interested, I have an extra that I'd be willing to part with. E-mail me privately at old-and-decrepit @ wi.rr.com (remove spaces) |

Is there a reason why more can't be made? I would imagine that would make them less likely to be picked up by collectors .
I have found 2 Kansas sunshine coins but none from any other states yet. |

More can always be made but the cost is substantial considering another set of numbers would have to be paid for as well along with the price of production. There a number of issues to consider.
If the original coin is just to be made again using the same icon then this would make part of the cost cheaper as well new dies would not need to be created. However, many geocachers are strongly against second minting of coins for it greatly devalues their coin. How would you like buying a limited edition item to find out later the manufacture decided to go ahead and make more. Do to this, while some coins would sell, I’m sure there would be a surpluses left over and that means someone or some organization has to take a hit in the pocketbook.
Creating a new coin with a new icon for 2007 is possible. The cost are considerable in this case and while the 1st coin I had no doubts about 1,000 coins selling I do however don’t think 1,000 coins could be sold this time.
Making two smaller runs of 500 for different designs or creating new coins in general still does not change the fact that the original deer coins will be collectables.
While it would be nice to see more WI deer coins out in circulation I highly doubt enough could be sold to cover cost and many would be happy with a second production. You can say who cares what “those” people think but remember they are also the ones who purchase the coins.
That’s my 12cents worth.

I know I would like to see another WGA 'state' coin.
I know Alabama just started taking orders for 1000 coins (800 regular, 200 LE)
I think there is probably enough demand for another one being made. Probably wont be able to get a 2006, unless there is already one in the works. |

Making an LE and only 800 of other still makes them collectable defeating the original post of making more so they are not so valuable to steal.
I still see coins that Crake (not sure I got that right) who makes good coins still trying to unload coins that he had made. I'm not against another coin just making sure issues are thought about.
Lets see how well Alabama does.

I'd buy several if new ones were minted for Wisconsin. |

We definately need to have another coin... but since this is the badger state, it should have a badger on it. |

I was thinking one of a more realistic design similar to the detail that was used in the deer. |

I'm thinking a beer on the front and cheese and sausage on the back. (Maybe we can commission Becky to draw those as well!) |

Whatever the coin is, it should be something special, to reflect how special Wisconsin is. This is a great state we live in, and I'd like everyone in the geocaching community to visualize it when they see our coin. It needs to be as unique and diverse as the state. It should be something every other state would envy. |
