Being a newbie, and not even set out on my first cache hunt yet, I hope this is not stupid question.

I see that commercial caches are not allowed in any way, shape or form.

I happen to work for a company associated with a brand identity and have access to some neat stuff. I was considering purchasing a case of small (1.5"x2.5") scale models and leaving these in the caches I find as kind of a signature trade.

Is this kind of thing done often? Would leaving the same brand name item be considered a commercial type situation?

Thanks for your feedback!

First, the stupid question is the one not asked. Smile

People leave signature items in caches all the time. LegoLover use to leave Lego key chains, Lost Boy Scout leaves a compass, someone left poker chips. It is your choice what you want to leave and if you want to put money into it. There are brand name items left in the caches all the time as trade (i.e. batteries).

I can't see it being a problem but I'm only one person.

That's totally fine.

You can put what you want in caches, EXCEPT for stuff like: drugs, alchol, knives, food, porn, bullets, explosives.

Your confusing WHERE a cache is LOCATED, verses what you can put in it. "No Commercial" caches means that the box can not be located INSIDE places like coffee shops, gas stations, hardware stores, etc.

Disclaimer: The "No Commericial" rule for HIDING caches started up a few years back ... so there are some older caches that are in places like coffee shops.

I think the small models are a great idea. I know my son will makeme go after those caches! Not that he'd have to twist my arm very hard though. Very Happy

Very good. Just wanted to make sure I wasn't going to break any rules right from the get-go. Smile

Now I have to just figure the ins and outs of the new GPS unit I got and get going.

Also have to get the wife psyched about it to let my buy the little models. I have to order a minimum of 75 of them. If I can get out enough, I should breeze through 75 in no time.

They would be a set of four Caterpillar mini's A bulldozer, Excavator, Wheel loader, and a backhoe loader in a rectangular plastic case.

Keep and eye out on geocaching.com as I will log them when I leave them.

Thanks for the input.
