You'll find that is the same in any organization. Most will agree the work needs to be done but only a few show up to do it.
That being said count us in. I think Coastie's idea is fine. Maybe we could find a designated rustic road that needs some TLC. Or anywhere else that needs help. If no one has a better idea my garage is in serious need of a cleaning. |

This has been brought up several times by the board. I have done alot of the preliminary work on this and we will be discussing it more after the coming election and organization meeting. (Pending my re-election) |

The Adopt-a-highway idea was braught up to me also, via e-mail.
It's nice know that you have done research on this already Jeff....helps with the legwork. I do NOT want to rock any boats, but as I would see it, it should be a joint effort of those in an area and not the decision of the board (as I am understanding you to mean Jeff). We could have the WGA-NEW region taking on a highway area.... not the WGA only. Looking at the requirements, it states that no more than 20 ppl may do clean-up at one time. So, taking that in hand, there would be no reason we couldn't have a group for our own area. Questions arising:
1. Can this be listed as a CITO event on GC.com, since we are limited to only 20 ppl?
2. The illusive questions about temp caches?
Does anyone else have other questions or concerns to add to this list??? |

I don't believe the board is planning on issuing any edicts on the Adopt-a-Highway program. However, before you go full speed ahead, please consider the following:
- The WGA would be able to coordinate a statewide effort with Adopt-a-Highway. One contact with the program, one liason, one training session, one set of paperwork, one liability waiver, etc., etc.
- One of the next frontiers of geocaching in WI is the DOT. For the WGA to be successful in working with them, we need to act as one body of geocachers, not a bunch of splinter cells throughout the state, in order to be taken seriously.
- Do we really need a smiley to go pick up trash on the highway?
Rock away... |

Just my 2 cents....
I'd rather go clean up our playgrounds. Parks, Nature preserves, and the like. Than be subject to the crazy drivers on the highways. |

We need to find out who/where has the biggest issue, I would think. Might be easier once spring comes to get an idea from area parks, who would need help with a clean up. Easy enough to contact city park or co. park managers to find out the biggest needs.
I woul;d love to say..."Let's pick _____ Park!" but what I have noticed is that many of them are well kept.
Open for more ideas for sure though!! |

Ok, Let's crawl before we walk. Why don't we really get going on what parks need the most help. Should we start with the counties nearby? |

Now you are blaming it on the trash? |
