Has there been any though in changing the logo for WGA? Don't get me wrong the one we have is nice and all but I think with the talent I have seen through the graphics on coins and whatnot we could get a bit more color and "fun" into a logo.
Again, this is only a suggestion(hence in the suggestion box).
I don't want to step on toes....
Thank you for reading

Don't worry; you're not the only one to suggest this. I believe this may be an issue that board will have to deal with this year. Though many like our current logo, I, like you, feel it could use a bit of a "sprucing up" to bring it to a more modern level.
Feel free to submit any artwork to any board member. We're always accepting suggestions. |

This topic keeps popping up. If the majority wants change, then why don't we make it a big contest? Have everyone submit ideas and put it to a vote? |

As long as there seems to be a growing sentiment for reviewing and revising the WGA logo you can add my name to that list. The original, though a classic, needs to be updated and "professionalized" (if that's a word)
Any commercial graphic artists in the group that would like to take this on? I'm sure the new ideas would come fast and furious once this process starts. |

I cast my vote .....to stay with what we have!
Sometimes change is good, othertimes...it's just change. The current logo is plain and simple - in the good sense of the words. It tells everything. Leave it be. |

My 2cents:
I think it would be nice to "update" the logo ... but only slightly ... as a like the basic concept of the state outline, GPSr and ammo can. More specific ... I like the simple/clean state outline, but maybe it's time for a more graphical detailed ammo can and GPSr ... maybe the GPSr should be more representative of a current product being used.
That last bit is sort of ironic coming from me, as our main GPSr is still a good ol' Garmin eMap ... which seems to just about match the unit in the logo (ok if you squint). |

We did talk about the logo at our board meeting, and we have some possible plans in the future.
Hold tight folks!

Funny story on that. There was actually a debate about what the GPS in the logo should look like... from what I remember, some questioned whether the GPS should have the buttons below the screen, as many of that day (GPS 12, Lowrance units, etc.) had the buttons above the screen. Others thought we should have used an eTrex like outline and maybe made the GPS yellow. I may have this discussion archived somewhere and if so I'll post it.
While it is supposed to be a generic or abstract graphical representation of a GPS, it was heavily influenced by the eMap (which I was using at the time) and the Magellan 315/330 series which was new at the time.
Back to something serious... I think updating the GPS to look more like a modern unit and adding detail to it would not be the best idea. If we did that, we'd probably be back in the same boat in 4 or 5 years... with a GPS in the logo that looked like an old dinosaur unit that no one uses anymore. |

Remember the old Milwaukee Brewers M-glove logo? It's interesting how the old "retro" logo is now the most popular. Our current WGA logo, while kind of crude and outdated, has a certain nostalgia factor, don't you think? |
