Ok this is sort of a rant! But my question is why if you can only place cache with in so many feet of each other why do we allow CITO events to be held on the same day within say X many of miles?? Just a thought I realize that WI_Martime is new to caching and may not know there was an event already in that same area 2 weeks earlier. Why make cachers have to decide what event to go to?

I do not see a problem. You can not go to every cache on the same day, so the same applies to Events.

As the number of cachers increases, you will begin to see more and more Events, in closer proximity to each other, on the same days.

My only issue with this event would be that it is not obvious that geocachers are behind the event. The ID associated with this event appears to have been created specifically for this event. While its possible that some geocachers are involved in the project, it would be better if they put their name on the event to make this clear.

I purposely scheduled the CITO Oak Creek event for the morning so it wouldn't overlap with the Waukesha event in the afternoon. People can go to both if they like. We are!

This is the same issue I have with this event. If it was placed by a member of the WGA why isn't the organizer of this event listed in the members list?

On the other hand, it is good to get some more parks clean as an effort to give back to the community that allows us to geocache in their parks.

I'm sure there's plenty of trash to go around... wink

Seriously, both of the events meet the guidelines at geocaching.com (barely on the 2nd one), and that's why both are listed.

ok.. I'll admit, i'm helping with this said event, and yes the id was made for this event, but the person who organized it all does geocache, she contacted Bec and ask if someone could help with the presentation which i volunteered to do! Anne is going to help me also, but after we are done we are heading over to appleton for the CITO event there..
It going to happen, events get posted on the same day all the time.. it happens..

One thing not addressed/explained ... might be why someone created a separate ID just for an event, rather than using their normal caching ID.

While there might me another reason (or not) in this case ... when ever I run an event I always use a separate ID, in my case called "energysaverEVENTS" ... just so my regular email account doesn't get hit with all the event finds (I use a yahoo email account to catch the "pile" of emails).
