Post your ideas here - even if you are not good at computer art as the coin makers have very good artists we can work with. Or maybe somebody here can take your idea and make it into art.
Some things to consider:
1. It does not have to be round!
2. It does not have to be big (micros sell really well)!
3. But it can be!
4. However, no matter what, it must have a WISCONSIN theme.
5. And the qualities that seem to sell geocoins these days are originality and, I would say, either humor or beauty.
For more details, see my post in the Announcements. I will keep this thread open until May 24th, at which point there will be a poll to decide this year’s design. Thanks in advance for the creativity!!! |

Anyone have any problems with an Illinois-folk tossing in a design concept? |

My vote will go for beauty, with the least color. A little color is good, but I like metal tones and such. |

I need an artists help here but how about a Wisconsin shaped coin with a compass rose (raised)on the front side(similar to the WGA camp-out t shirt logo). On the flip side it could be a variety of things representing WI. Such as a Hunter, Hiker, Fisherman or my favorite a Canoe going over some falls. I do not envision a lot of color as I prefer the metallic (Pewter) coins myself. |

We gladly accept designs or ideas submitted by anyone. In fact we have a special file where ideas from south of the border go...
Yes, we would love to have as many contributions, ideas, and designs to choose from as possible. |

How about the state silhouetted with the State Delorme challenge on the back of the coin? |

I would think the map of the state with a big old Guernsey or Jersey cow superimposed on one side and maybe a flying "W" on the back with the tracking number. |

There is so much to choose from. You have all of the natural things: waterfalls, Great lakes, the Dells, the towering pines, the ice-age features. Then you have so much wildlife:deer, bear, waterfowl, up-land birds, raccoons, etc. Then you have outdoor activities: fishing, hunting, caching. sailing, hiking. And lets not forget about our past: fur trading, logging, the dozens of brewers and cheese factories. I don't think I can suggest just one, so how about a series of coins? |

Here's another idea...a coin for each county. |

I would suggest one side of the coin have an outline of the state of Wisconsin with the co-ords of the geographical center of the state and a star or something like that marking the spot. I believe this is the geographic center of Wisconsin. N 44° 26.000 W89° 45.800 It's in Wood county. Another possibility would be the co-ords of the northern, southern, eastern and western most borders. I believe these are those co-ords. The format is a little different...copied from a website.
Latitude: 42° 30'N to 47° 3'N Longitude: 86° 49'W to 92° 54'W
On the other side of the coin the WGA name with the new logo if ready in time for the coin, the tracking number, the date of the beginning the WGA, etc. If there is room the number of active caches in the state as of some particular date this year. Or, one of the state symbols. The state flower is the wood violet for some color.
I prefer a circular coin about 1.75 inches in diameter.
Well, I am looking forward a new state coin.

I agree, the coin outline in the shape of Wisconsin would be great, with the WGA logo on the back. |

How about one of those magnetic Blings like Robin has, but instead of the little dog tag being in the centre, the coin could look like Wisconsin and in the centre could be a little ammo box that's attached magnetically to the state. Does that make any sense? |
