I'll be going into the Waukesha area next week and want to do a little caching there. Since my time will be somewhat limited, could someone recommend some of the caches they enjoyed? Thanks for your help

We just did a Waukesha run a couple of weeks ago. We were w/ WISearchers and had a lot of laughs. From what we saw most caches seemed to be pretty much in and out. We hit 21 in about 7 hours w/ a stop at Denny's for breakfast and an end at Culver's for dinner. So...just pick a bunch and go for it. You could follow our tracks for the day if you want fast finds.

I will say that the "monkey" caches were a highlight of our day...but it could have been the team antics rather than the cache...who knows?!

Times have changed and so have the caches. The caches are more in numbers and the different kinds of hides. But made to be more fun than frustrating. Most seem to enjoy finding them. The Tapps

Both Commander's and Brian's statements are true, but you should understand that, with several exceptions, the caches in the city of Waukesha tend to be of the urban micro variety or the short walk to an tupperware/ammo box in a city park variety. Nothing wrong with either of these. If you want numbers, I can't think of a better place to cache than Waukesha, other than maybe Chicago. You will be surprised at the high density of caches in the city.

If you prefer hiking caches and have transportation, there are some great hides close by. Here's a list of my favorites.

Snake Bite and Egyptian Magician - In Minooka Park
Glow In the Dark and Glow In the Dark II - Also in Minooka Park, night cache only
Dew It For Fun, A Little Bit of Paradise, Survival in a Can, Keebler Vacation Home, Ottawa Panorama, Its Like...The Hilliest - In the Kettle Moraine (its closer than you think)
Vernon Marsh Cache - In Vernon Marsh near Mukwonago

And not to be missed (although not a hiking cache)
One Degree of Separation - Pharmteam (in North Prairie)

Have fun!

Yesterday, Trudy & I spent the day in Waukesha with 4 kids aged 7-12 and had a great day. We found the caches along the river to be the most scenic. There was one micro hidden in a pile of rocks that we walked away from without spending any time (they suck!). The best hide of the day was "Waukesha Beach" by fdr5 (GCMT58). With all the micros in Waukesha, it is nice to get in an occasional ammo box "Rovers Run" (GCQ75J). The kids got 7 finds for the day and we managed to add a couple too.

The cache that I enjoyed when I did Waukesha was "More Power to you". It is very clever and probably should have a higher difficulty rating.

Check your maps, More Power To you is not even in the city of Waukesha.

It seems the City of Waukesha caches have become a destination for those south of the border the past two months.

You will find a variety of hides and containers meant to fit the park location.

Last count, there are several ammo boxes in the city parks: Rovers Run, Another Park with No Name, Dopp Street, Nature Study.

Dopp Street is a nice walk in the park. Nature Study will take you on a nice walk along the Fox River.

I know that Brian (The Tapp's) prides himself on 24 hour cache maintenance. Brian takes maintaining his caches seriously, and he also offers a variety of different hiding styles as well as variety of cache containers. Keep up the great hides Brian. Tami
