Please tell me I'm not the only one who has watched an old love suffer because of the new love of our life, geocaching.
My flower gardens used to be almost show-stoppers. Sometimes I'd come home from work, and there would be some stranger, taking photos of my house.
No more. The cottage garden out front has been suffering quite a bit, and had a really killer crop of weeds. It's scary when I know the names of the weeds better than the flowers--lamb's quarter, wood sorrel, plantain, quackgrass........
Hopefully I've been able to stem the tide with some concerted effort on our caching sabbath. So.....what has suffered since *you* discovered caching?
Housework doesn't count. If you're like me, the slightest excuse is enough to let that go! |

Lisa's blogging has suffered quite a bit as well as her crafts (sewing, cross-stitching). For me . . . WORK!
Thanks for bringing it up! |

Fishing...trout fishing. Waushara County is full of Class A trout streams and that is where I tried to spend my free time, wading the streams and fishing for the big browns and rainbows. Sadly, I have only been out once this year so far (though successful). Oh, well, being outdoors doing anything is better than being at work! |

Where to start?
Well I have not washed "The Geo-Jimmy" for months.
It's been so long since I've trail-ridden my bike that when I filled the tires to head to the 4th of July parade, they were completely empty of air.
I bought an airbrush over a year ago to take up that hobby again, but used it just the first time last week to touch up the paint on the wife's car to trade it in.
I had an R/C nitro Monster Truck I used to race, but it sat so long. I sold it on e-Bay to further fund my caching adventures.
The good news is, I now use the Geo-Jimmy more for caching than for work. Since I aired up the tires on my mountain bike, I've ridden it more, and plan to use it to cache now as well. And, the airbrush I know will come in handy for cammoing some upcoming caches.
So, the moral to the story is this I guess...
...Don't give up your old hobbies, combine them??? |

Fishing has suffered. However, on the plus side I have learned to kayak and have exercised more than I might have otherwise done. As with anything there are advantages and disadvantages. It would just be easier if the days were longer or we didn't have to work! |

I second the fishing. I haven't even bought a licenses yet this year. I even got a new 10 ft Ultra light rod and reel combo and it hasn't even seen the water. And Reading. I use to read a lot, but now I spend my time on here! |

Trekkin' said the same thing. Opening weekend, he usually is on one of the trout streams around here while I'm birding. Not this year.
We went geocaching. |

What have I been neglecting to go caching? Cleaning, cooking, and yard work. That way I still have time for my hobbies and sleep, but not much more. Will probably be doing a lot of catch-up cleaning this weekend as Mr. GOJeeper has decided to pursue his favorite hobby of off-road Jeeping. *sigh* We did get some major (for us) caching in on Wednesday so I can't complain.

Trekkin & Birdin are essentially asking us to prove a negative. How is it possible to make a list of something that doesn't occur? That's my excuse and I'm sticking with it! |

Thanks for making me LOL, frizz! Just don't let Loungin', our 17 year old, get hold of logic like this. He has enough of his own as it is! |

My golf game has really suffered since we began caching in 2005. |

We use to share Packer season tickets with my (Cathy) brother, but since geocaching, we have given up spending the time and mega bucks on a schedule set up by the NFL, sitting in weather for hours that may or may not be comfortable, and witnessing one team win and one team lose.
With geocaching we spend less money for 48 hours (time we choose) of fun, exercise, history & geographical lessons, etc. and usually win 40- 50 times...with minimal losses.
Oh, still take photos, create albums of the venture, hiking, snowshoeing, canoeing, biking, picnics, and making new friends... seems like the hobby has added more than taken away in our lives. |

So, can I buy a few tickets from you?
Please? |

Agree, there. I used to go to every home game on my families tickets (I "own" a seat up there cuz I coughed up the $1400 user fee to keep the ticket in the family). Now I will only go to the first and the last games of the season and maybe one in between. I can't quite justify spending that kind of money on something when I could spend tremendous amounts less doing something I enjoy even more! (and I can still listen to Wayne and Larry in the car!) |

Having cached quite a bit the last few weeks, today was the day to stay home and do all the stuff that doesnt get done like it should:
slept in
watered the flower garden, and even weeded a bit
washed the geomobile of several weeks of geo-dirt
did the laundrey
looked at the bills (not that I paid any of em)
looked at my calender to plan future adventures
answered some too long ignored emails
got a haircut, which was way overdue
got the oil changed in the geomobile, also overdue
cleaned the swimming pool and went for a swim
got caught up on the WI forums
read the Polk County KB archives that WI Robin wanted me to
read last week's paper (man, those Bushies are getting crookeder)
read the Rolling Stone
thought about cachin, but avoided temptation, in case someone would say that I was addicted
talked to my Mom about maybe going to Oregon in September (another state---woo hoo)
listened to Van Morrison all day.
read the directions to my new nuvi, though I have been using it for a couple weeks now.
So, no smilies for zuma today, just getting tuned up for the next caching day. |
