I can't seem to get the information from a cache page to the easygps program. I'm registered and logged into everything possible. I've got EasyGPS to open the file but it's always named something like "geocaching.loc-7.asp" and EasyGPS says it's not a compatable file...
I just can't seem to figure it out. I'm sure it's one of those so simple things...
Any Ideas? |

If you downloaded EasyGPS from the easygps.com web site, it may not recognize the EasyGPS files from the geocaching.com web site. There are two things you can try:
1. Open the version of EasyGPS you have, then use the "File" menu to browse for and open the file from within EasyGPS.
2. Download EasyGPS from the geoaching.com web site and use that version instead of the one you downloaded from EasyGPS.com.
Hope this helps. |

Hey, I got it working... Now the only problem is that everytime I "download" a cache/waypoint it opens a new easygps I.E. downloading 3 separate cache/waypoints makes 3 instances of easygps running in separate windows... I could figure out a way to deal with this though...

Download the free program GeoBuddy. It lets you open multiple EasyGPS files and then merge them into one file for easy uploading to your GPSR. You can also use GeoBuddy to rename the geocache IDs so they upload as short names of the geocaches. This is a very nifty feature that lets you see what the name of the geocache is on your GPSR without manually entering each name.

Not to worry. It always happens with me also: Each time I download a waypoint A new window appears. So, here's what I do. Either upload each window to the gps seperately, or, Look at the easygps and pull down the window menu. From gps window menu select view horizontal. At this point, all windows should appear. Then, hilite one of the waypoints and "pull" it to the first window. Hilite a different waypoint and also drg it to the first window. Do this for each waypoint and window. When done, all of the way points will have been dragged into the first window. You can now upload all points from the first window. |

Sounds like a winner to me!! That's kind of what I was thinking I'd have to do.... It'll work!
So let's say I'd like to save some waypoints for hunter walking trails around eagle river... I would save those waypoints/routes/tracks/ in something like "eagle.loc" on my hard drive... Then, whenever I'm going up there hunting all I'd have to do is download that eagle.loc file to my gps... when I'm done hunting I would take that file "off" and possibly put on waukesha county trails.loc (shorter filename. you get the idea) Is this correct?
BTW hi way up there in Slinger from Sussex!

That's the general idea. However, I am sure you are aware that saved files will nor be updated. |
