I'm taking a trip to Chicago tomorrow so will give it a good test. So far the only thing strang that I noticed is that it kept turnning itself off this afternoon when I had it connected to the PC and Mapsource using the GPS tracking function. I don't know what that was all about. Also, they didn't fix the lock to road problem where it stays in that mode when in off road mode. I don't know that it affects the off road heading/bearing function but I know it does some funky things when I page back to the map mode. Oh yes, also had it lock up once. I don't think this beta was fully tested out! I think they just want us V owners to get P.O.ed enough to buy a Street Pilot, which I'm close to doing.

Lived it. Loved it.
I have been using it since it was published a week or so ago. 15 caches found with it. I also traveled to Illinois and back. It didn't route me through Michigan. I even used the new offset feature (in feet) on a cache in Illinois. Ultimate cache was a no-find but not GPSV's fault.
They added a new game where you make your moves in the game by walking around. I gotta find an empty field to play it.
I have not been experiencing the problems Steve has been reporting.

Next question. Did either one of you first install the beta version (I think it was 2.12???) then install 2.20? |

I load every revision almost on the day it comes out. I watch the bulletin boards for notifications.
Specifically, I upped from 2.12 to 2.20, which seemed to be a bookkeeping upgrade becase 2.12 worked ok and 2.20 didn't add any noticable features.
There are a few complaints on the bulletin boards, but not in the numbers you'd expect. |

I'm happy to report that routing wise, it performed well today. I didn't have it do anything wierd like shutting off for no reason or anything. It still likes me to get off on hwy 100 as a long cut from I94 east to I894 south however. (grins) can't believe I did that...
I did have the beta installed. I don't recall any problems with that. Like Jeff, I load any beta as soon as I find one available. I think the previous one had a lock up problem. It would have happened today if it wasn't fixed. I had Chicago loaded and that was where it would lock, during the transition from basic detail to loaded detail. Come to think of it, two weeks ago I went to Indianapolis with the the beta loaded. No problems then either. Too bad business got in the way of geocaching.

Just reloaded garmin V back to 2.08. Installed routable maps from city select and downloaded new waypoints. So, that's all set. When I use mapsource to route from point A to Point B, it routes from my door step to the final destination. But when I route using only the gps it routes from the nearest main road (about .25 miles away) to the final point. Is this common? |

Just found solution! WHen maps are installed into GPS from Mapsource there is a checkbox on the menu - include routing data on maps! Duh, that box was not checked. It now is checked. Phew! |

Loading all of Chicago swamps the V. So I stop just around O'Hare. If I route across the boundary, the V since day one has a cow.
