It's a long story, but I am looking for someone in Madison to help renovate a condo for a quick sale. My Mom needs to fix up a condo that she had cosigned for and was stuck with it in the end.
Right now a person to lay tack strip and carpet in two bedrooms and down a set of stairs would make a big difference. Perhaps carpet in the living room if the price were right too. I'm sure we could find some remnants. Counter top and sink along with kitchen Linoleum look like heck too. Maybe some drywall work?
Furnace and air unit could be lame too. Hard to say since it is old and not been checked yet.
Anyone with advice from the Madison area on trusted and reasonable carpet installer or handyman would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks! |

We made very good progress today. We painted pretty much the whole upstairs, hung 4 mini blinds, and hung 2 large sets of vertical blinds. Lots of stuff was cleaned. most all baseboards were removed in preparation for carpet in 3 rooms were there never was any.
Julie chose a nice color Berber carpet from Menard's, and now we need to find a recommended installer. Menard's provided a list of people in the area that install, so we just need to chose one from the list.
The furnace needs to be looked at to be sure it's ready for the Winter yet and maybe some drywall work in the basement. Things are shaping up quicker than I thought they would. |

If one of the recomended installers from Menards is named Chris Jerrod call him. He installed our berber from Menards at our cottage.
He lives in Briggsville and his phone number is 608 981 2362. He did a fine job. |

Thanks! This is exactly the type of thing I am looking for!
Any heating and cooling guru's in the area would be top on the hit list now. My Mom is dead set on replacing the furnace/AC even though she has never heard or seen it run. It should be evaluated and repaired in my mind before even thinking about replacement.

OK, heating and cooling. We had a new furnace and air conditioning installed also. Got several firms involved and settled on Riberich Heating and Cooling out of Reedsburg. We found them to be honest and gave the best evaluation of our system of any of them. Number 608 524 2416.
Errol may be able to convince your mother there is nothing to be gained by replacing anything. He is a charming older man with a ton of experience. Straight talker. Good luck |

If you do proceed with replacing the heating system and are considering going with a high-efficiency system ... consider applying for an incentive to get some money back toward the cost of that system, from the State's Energy Efficiency program:

My niece works for Project Home http://www.projecthomewi.org/ . She said, "Have him call Project Home--she might qualify for some kind of help. If her furnace is in need of replacement we will give her a new one--if she qualifies for the weatherization program. 608-246-3737
Otherwise, I can refer a few of our contractors (we subcontract the work to licensed HVAC guys)." Hope this may help you. |

I looked at the website and it looks like something my Sister should have done before being evicted. I'm not sure that the program would work on a home that is being refurbed for resale, but I can pass the link on to her. Thanks!

Now we find out that the electric service box needs to be updated to 100 amp service. I am starting to think Project Home might be a good idea. |
