I can see the worthy qualities of neighborhood electric vehicles, although I'm not in position to take advantage of one. Clean, efficient, and quiet, and these Zenn's that I read about in the paper (or since it was jsonline, CRT) today, just plug into the wall at home. Some numbers: 35mi/charge, 8 hrs/recharge, 25 mph max, $12.7K list.
Unplug and go
The article mentions that municipalities in Wisconsin must create their own laws to allow NEV's. They sell them in Janesville, but you cannot drive them there. On a local note, you can drive them in Eagle River.
I thought I'd spread the word of a new technology coming to market, as geocachers are early-adopters of new technology.

Not bad if I was an eighty year old grandma going to church two miles away and stopping at the store and bank. But not for 12,700! Let's see, 25 mph= more congestion. More congestion=more pollution and more road rage. Zenn=happier environment????? |

I'm not sure, but I think the tires are the same as for my mini-van ... the compact spare! |

For the price I would rather put my money toward something like the Chevy volt concept vehicle(estimated 2010 availability).
You can charge this car at home & do a 40 mile drive using just electric, then it will kick in the gas engine to recharge the batteries for longer drives.

Sorry, there's a five-digit number in my way, (and it's not Marc.) |

So does that mean they flatbed them to ER for the test drives? |

I love this little thing it looks like it would be fun to drive. I saw it a couple years ago on some show, but unfortunately it broke from all the beating they were giving it. |

The car I'm waiting for. MDI MiniCAT
The car goes for about 120 miles on a tank of compressed air, which is refilled using a solar powered air compressor you keep at home. Zero emissions, totally green. And yes, they are even air conditioned.
The car is expected here in the states this year. Starting price for the base 3 seater (the one in the picture) without the at home charger is $8k

Yea getting the 110v charger is an extra $26 ... all you get is the cigarette lighter adapter with the base unit. |
