We headed over to get the DeLorme final yesterday, and seeing how close we were going to be to some Illinois earthcaches, we ran for the border, since we needed finds in one new state for platinum. There were two others close by that we passed, because, well, we were tired by then. We did Quaking in Volo and the two newer ones in the Glacier Park in McHenry County. Just call us the Bog Monsters!
We recommend all three of those for anyone looking to cache near the Wisconsin border.
We'd hoped to do Fontana Fen near Lake Geneva on our way home, but a road detour nixed that plan. Another day, another earthcache! |

You know, we were really surprised at how minimal the bug hassle was at Volo last night. We had more insects swarming us at a P & G near the Madison Comfort Inn in the bright light of morning! I was pretty adament that we get Illinois with some good ECs, instead of the closest to us, which is basically at a farmer's gate. There's one hysterical log for that cache, though, it might well be one of the funniest I've ever read!
I tried to submit my platinum request, filled in all those 20 caches, then for some bizarre reason, when I went to put in my own, the screen would only scroll to the first three of 20 and the submit button appeared. I guess for now we can be happy in knowing we achieved it, we'll try submitting when the computer or site wants to behave! |

Hey Anne, I believe you only need to set up one more to join all of us at Platinum! It seems kinda silly that you aren't, you've got us all beat with your finds, LOL. |

What do you have to do to make platinum?
Are there other "ranks"? |

If you go to www.earthcache.org you can read all about Earthcaches and how to submit & obtain your official level including the "Almight Earthcache Master Pins!!" Here are the qualifications for each level:
EarthCache Masters
There are four Earthcache Master levels:
Bronze Pin for Bronze Earthcache Master
Visit and log three (3) or more Earthcaches in two (2) or more states/countries.
Silver Pin for Silver Earthcache Master
Visit and log six (6) or more Earthcaches in three (3) or more states/countries and have developed one (1) or more Earthcaches.
Gold Pin for Gold Earthcache Master
Visit and log twelve (12) or more Earthcaches in four (4) or more states/countries and have developed two (2) or more Earthcaches.
Platinum Pin for Platinum Earthcache Master
Visit and log twenty (20) or more Earthcaches in five (5) or more states/countries and have developed three (3) or more Earthcaches.
Keep on Earthcachin'

I wouldn't count on it Black Belts are the ones to beat in this neck of the woods...unless you were to tip yer bonnet as to when they will be released....just be sure to get them out before the picnic if they are going to be local. |
