This just a thought I had and wondered if others maybe interested. There are 2 multi cache night caches in the Waukesha Area, Glow in the Dark (GC9178) and Glow in the Dark 2 (GCH1QB), that I thought would be fun to do a night cache (or 2) for Halloween.
I am wondering if there are others who would be interested in joining in for the hunt. Say meet at the posted coords for Glow in the Dark 1 at 7pm on 10/31/08 and see if we can take out both that evening.
We have two 1 million candle power spot lights, but having your own flashlight would be advised so you dont go bump into something in the night.
If you have never done a night cache they are an unique take on the game of geocaching, we have done one and it was a fun time.
So anybody interested in teaming up? Add to the thread or email me at kansas64@gmail.com |

Just want to echo Kansas64's comments. We did both of those caches in the summer and then went back a second time for Halloween with the kids. They really enjoyed it and would like to do more of them. Flashlights for everyone and hot chocolate are a must.
One word of caution; park outside the park if you dont want to pay the fees. The first time, several cars got ticketed by a very alert ranger. |

As it turns out, I was actually looking at those caches myself for this weekend. And I didn't even think about the Halloween tie-in, but that definitely makes it more fun...and spooookier! Jeremy and I can join you Friday night at 7. |

If you have time and desire afterwards, the Fright Hike is going on at Lapham Peak from 6-9 p.m. both Friday and Saturday night... |

Thanks for the heads up Gary... I wasn't even aware that an event like that took place at Lapham. Here is a link to a FAQ about the event:
Fright Hike FAQ
Might be nice to do a little night hiking in addition to night caching and see if any ghosts (like the would-be geocacher or Elvis!) are out... |

That Fright Hike sounds cool! And I might be able to go on Saturday night. Anyone want to maybe come with me?

I'm thinkin I have too many variables with kids and kids friends to hook up at a certain time.....if you really want to go and can't find someone DO GET BACK TO ME and I will put the hammer down and get a real time set up...right now I'm thinkin I will be there at 6pm....but again kids tend to mess plans up. |

If you are too frightened to do this alone Bec, ThePharmGirl and I should be there Saturday night... probably early like 6 or 7. We can hold your hand and tell you to close your eyes when the scary parts of the hike are encountered. |

I was thinking of being there around 6-ish myself. So I'll be on the look-out for familiar faces.

We showed up around 7:00pm and had a blast. Well done and the kids loved it. They're already talking about next year. Thanks for the heads up. |

Not a problem...some years are better than others....last year there were many more chainsaws.....those really give me the willys. Greyhounder and my fam began the trek at about 6:30...
It really didn't get busy until after 7pm... |

I think Jeremy and I were there around 7. Surprised we didn't see any other cachers although there were a LOT of people. But I enjoyed it... it was a longer hike than I was actually expecting. Thanks for the suggestion!
Those grim reapers sure liked to follow me a lot throughout the hike... I hope that doesn't mean anything! |
