Ditto. At some point(we're dead in the middle of the series) we'll cut loose and do the southern leg, and then the northern leg. These all stop at the kind of places that are mostly forgotten but shouldn't be. Americana at it's best.

We can’t take it any longer. We are planning to start from Hudson and work our way south over the Veteran’s Day weekend. We will be starting Friday morning and expect to reach the Illinois State line Sunday around dinner time. Meet us in Hudson if you want to be part of this great adventure. We agree that this is a very interesting series. So far we have done just 2 of them, GCQW0A YT-Slinger Depot & Ice Age Trail and GCR04E Menomonee Falls Mill Pond Dam & Fire Station (doesn't have yellowstone trail in its name but is part of the trail) and they both contained history as well as varying lengths walk/hike to the final once you figure out the coodinates. You should have an interesting busy weekend.

I agree. Zuma has put a lot of time and research into this series. I have found only a handful so far, and hope to find several more in the upcoming year and explore the Yellowstone Trail.

Here is a list of all the YT caches if you want to avoid the search. I suspect that there is at least one more coming, so I am trying to keep the list up to date.

We left home at 5:30 this morning and got to the first cache (Hudson)at 11:00 am. we found six of the first eight and stopped in Chippewa Falls for the night. We plan to be back at it at sunrise, but if the rest are anything like these first few, there is little chance of us completing the series before Sunday night. The caches we have been to present a great challenge, well worth our time to pursue.

Well, our big weekend is over and we were not able to complete the series. We did find 31 of the 47 caches, but only because Geoffnsara joined us for the last 100 miles. Without their help, I don't think we could have done as well. We were too badly beaten, bruised, bumped and exausted. They kept us going, Proped our crutches, wiped our brows and watered our parched throats. They said they wer joining in the fun, Trudy said they were along to look after the old folks and I think they were looking for the Oreos Double Stuff. In any case they did lift our spirits and made the last leg of the journey a lot more fun.

Whe found a wonderful diversity in the caches. They took us to historic buildings and trails, beautiful vista and parks, and unique locations. Amazing diversions filled each day and we loved every minute. zuma! has created a winner here. Get out and see it.

Congratulations to Trudy & the Beast on finding 31 of the Yellowstone Trail caches. And, thanks for all of the kind comments. If anyone has trouble finding any of them, please dont hesitate to drop me an email, and I will help you out.

The last two (Roberts & Baldwin) are in the approval que right now, so the trail will be pretty much complete from Illinois to Minnesota. Though, I do expect to add new ones occasionally and modify existing ones, as the need arises.

I have had a blast driving up and down the trail, first checking out all the existing caches within a couple of miles of the trail route, and then going back later to place the caches after doing a web search on whatever I found of interest. The basic idea was to put one in every town along the trail, and just one per town, hopefully in a spot interesting and unique that tells a story about what that town was like in the 1920s. In some cases that was not possible, but often it was.

We were able to do a few of these this weekend. Neither of us had ever heard of this trail before and since we both like history it was a neat way to learn more about our home state of WI. We hope to do more down the road. Thanks for all the time and effort you are putting into these, it shows.

OK, there have been 5 new YT caches added since my last list update, and I just got around to adding them to the list. The new (to the list) caches are, from East to West, Stanley, Cadott, Lake Hallie, Baldwin, and Roberts. The link again is:

I did the Roberts cache a few weeks ago. It was a cool cache with a nice history attached. I love wall murals and as it turns out I was visiting the church right accross the street from the given coords; odd how Geocaches are everywhere you go.
