Iím board!

OK hereís the deal, I seem to have too much time on my hands and while I could fill that time playing online poker, Iíd rather use the time learning stuff and creating. If you have a geological feature near you worthy of a write up send me a PM and tell me about it. I just might write it up as an EC and adopt it out to you. To date I have 11 of my own ECís and share ownership on another two. For now, please submit your ideas via PM prior to Jan. 1st.

The more information you have about the location the better...park signage, hours, rules, history....I can do a lot with an online search but richness comes from knowing the area first hand. For this reason I require that you live within 25 miles of your topic feature.

I do not want to repeat EC features which have already been done in the state unless the location is unusually striking so please try to come up with something no one has done yet or has done several hundred miles from your proposed location.

While Iím no rocket scientist, I can usually string together a few semi-coherent sentences at the required high school reading and comprehension level.

-Cheers and Happy Holidays.

My less betterer computer is on the fritz at the moment...I have to use Seamonkey to generate my HTML at the moment and it is a sloppy program which codes with all kinds of extra crap...I hope to have my Dreamweaver equipped computer back up and running after the holidays....if you need anything magically made into a shiny HTML page get with me in Jan....

You mean there's a way we can do the html thang without having to make all those funny marks in our write ups?

My son taught me some rudiments of html, and that's what I've been doing to list mine. If there's an easier way......

I can code some by hand but it's a PITA. There are many programs out there where you basically type what you want and it magically makes it into HTML. Granted if you want tables and pictures or other fancy stuff it is a little more involved but not too difficult to figure out.

Google then install "Seamonkey" ...it is a free and simple browser/HTML editor to use. It is a version of "Firefox" which many folks LOVE....myself included. I learned coding basics from Seamonkeys older brother (whose name at the moment eludes me) about 10 or so years ago... I like Dreamweaver much better but the price of several hundred $ vs. free might make Seamonkey a much better choice for most folks.

For very simple and basic html, there is this tool. Evince Just punch in your text, and it will insert breaks and such.

So where are we at with this little project spawned by boredom?

4 ECs completely written.
2 of them awaiting approval from Forest Service
1 awaiting approval from a village board.
1 complete save for logging requirements (and approval).

2 Requests still undeveloped by me while I wait for these 4 to get down the pipe a bit further (get approved).

1 Request which I declined.

If these all gain approvals I think they will make nice additions to the existing ECs in the state...of the complete write-ups, two are water features, one is a rock feature and one is a glacial feature.

*Just a note on approvals, unless I have serious questions as to whether or not a cache will be approved I will write up the cache first then look for approval later. By doing it this way I learn about stuff and I can also share the completed page with the potential approving body so they have an idea what Iím proposing and what they are granting permission for.

I should have taken you up on this offer.
Wrote one up and had one of the local EarthCache Goddess read it over for her input and made some changes based on her recommendation and submitted it
Rejected, so I added more info based on what EC said it was lacking in and rewrote it and submitted it again
Rejected again, this time they wanted more info in a different direction. I have again rewritten and resubmitted and again waiting.
If it is accepted this time we may have to publish an abridged version as it is so long.
I am almost to the point to say forget it and give up on EarthCaches entirely

I may have been lucky but so far all mine went through first try...but then they may be more discriminating these days...

Faster than a prying muggle.
More powerful than a stubborn ammocan.
Able to leap wide streams in a single bound.

Look! Up in that tree!
It's a fake pine cone, no it's a pigeon decoy, wait...It's Super EarthCache Guy!

Yes, it's Super EarthCache Guy - strange visitor from another planet who came to Earth with powers and abilities far beyond those of mortal men. Super EarthCache Guy - who can observe the course of mighty rivers, scratch rocks with shiny nails, and who, disguised as Johnny Waypoint, mild mannered inventory dude for a great Midwestern bicycle manufacturer, fights the never ending battle for permissions, pictures and the proper logging of EarthCaches everywhere..

(I for one seem to recall saying I had too much time on my hands...I think this confirms that statement)
