Hey All! Myself and Gramma Cindy will be hosting a weenie roast/picnic on April 25th. It will me held at the Sawyer County Hatchery Park. About 5 miles east of Hayward on Hwy 77. There is a group of hiking/biking trails the surround the park and the famous Birkie Ski Trail also borders the park.
My goal is to have a series of new caches that stretch along the birkie trail to the Mosquito Brook Crossing. So bring you mountain bikes too!
There will be a bonfire(weather permitting) and a few games too!

Do you think the snow will be gone by then? We did Copper Harbor last April 28th and there was still 3 feet on the ground.

You keep scheduling events on weekends I am gone!
I have to be in Madison for a faculty development meeting on 4/24. However, I might be able to back in the northwoods for this event. It sounds like fun! Combining mountain biking and caching would be great! |

Well the Keeweenaw don't lose it's snow till July 4th. I got married April 16th 4 years ago and there wasn't any snow. And on I was younger , it was a familly tradition to canw the Namakagon River the Saturday of Easter Weekend and I don't ever remember there being problem with snow. If there is snow, well there will be a bonfire and then you brin the snowshoes as the trails are both bike and snowshoe trails. This is the same area that I put out cachers for my Super Sunday event. And iI will note that one of the caches at this location is up for COTM. Thaks to whoever nominated it.
Also,it's th weekend before Fishing Opener. so you would think that the snow should be gone. But I remember an Opener when we got 12 inches of snow in the morning. I was never so cold in my life!
So, I guess we'll just have to wait and see! |

Let's hope there's more than just "thinking" spring by the end of April!
This event has possibilities for us IF there is no talk about . . . you know . . . those three unspeakable letters. |

Hey All! 2 weeks till the Wennie Roast! I think I have at least one series of caches all set to go and hope to get another. Grama Cindy picked up a few very nice geo-coins for prizes too. Hopefully this weather holds, but we had better get a little rain before then or they will not allow any fires.
Any questions, please let me know! |

Well, I'm not sure. As of right now, there are closed. The sign I saw tonight said thwy would be closed to May. I don't have a bike so all the cache I'll put out, you will be able to hike to. I'm on vactaion next week, so If the weather is nice, I jus might hike up the trail to place some caches. I will say that soem of the bike trail hiked tonight still had snow in spots and part of the freshly made trail from last fall is pretty soft.
I'll just have to se how my time goes. Heading to the Cities the weekend for our 5 wedding anniv, so nothing will got done this weekend.
I'll let ya know how things progress. |
